Hey! It’s 1:39 am in PA and I’m having what I believe is another bad anxiety attack! I was laying in bed watching YouTube, and I started falling asleep and I felt like a heavy weight on my chest slightly, but I think the way I was laying was hurting my back. And that feeling stressed me out, but like usual I checked my heart beat because I always do. It felt fine and I suddenly could feel the blood rushing through my veins and then all of a sudden it’s like it went completely nuts my heart was pounding out of control so I got up cus I was shaking. Most of the time I would have started panicking and gonna go to the hospital but instead I got up real fast and went to the kitchen and took a magnesium citrate which help with calming nerves and sleep. I was shaking for a few minute and now I feel better but my back is killing me so I think my backs out of it place or something. My eye keeps twitching and so does my legs and hands but I think I’ll be fine. Let me know if this has ever happened to you!?!? I’m 18yrs old btw so I don’t think it’s a heart attack and I’ve had an EKG n’ they said I was fine a few months ago.

I think it sounds like a panic attack. I am 25 years old literally going through the same thing at this moment minus the heart pounding. After my ekgs and chest X-ray I rarely get heart poundings anymore now that my mind knows my heart is good. But I I’m shaky, twitching, tingling, fidgety and every time I try to close my eyes my body jolts.. not fun ☹ I think you’re ok. Try and relax and remember it is not your health or anything wrong just anxiety into overdrive and now you’re thinking about it so it might take you a second to calm down. I need to take my own advice lol

Thank you! Yeah the first time I went to the hospital my heart beat went to 135 beats cus of the anxiety which may not seem high to other people but it seems pretty high to me lol. I’m usually around 70-80 beats. But Nighttime has always triggered my anxiety probably because I feel so alone and sitting with my own thoughts. But once I get a thought in my head it seems like my body can’t get over it! :( I hope you feel better!

Same I usually am very worse at night! I’ve recently been diagnosed with ocd which probably plays a part in the overthinking things when it’s night time and you’re alone with everything going around in your brain ! I took clonazapam (I hope I’m spelling it right) hopefully it chills me out so I can get some rest because the most frustrating part is I am sleepy lmao! Such a pain man! I hope you get some rest! If not I’m sure some
Of us will still be up! You’re not alone!

Hi. Nighttime used bring on my anxiety too. I would be in bed going over the entire day and reevaluating everything to see what I could have done better. I now have a nighttime routine including a snack, reading Bible, then reading a mystery novel,. This helps me to fall asleep. I also take my buspar in the evening. I keep a bottle of water and my journal on my bedside table in case I wake up with anxiety. Hope you feel better.

Thank you! I keep a journal, water, and vitamin B complex or Magnesium if I feel really anxious at night! It seems to get bad at nighttime; I don’t normally have any panic attacks in the morning but sometimes I will depending but my family is awake so it’s easy to close off the thoughts, but at night it’s terrible. I have to watch tv to keep my head from spinning!

Anxiety is much worse at night for me as well. So sorry. I have issues of waking up thinking my heart isn't really beating too well and it terrifies me. Prayers for you.

Yes. I have frequent heart pounding at night. One thing that helps me is the realization once I wake up the heart is not pounding but anxiety about it starts it going. Thus, I know that the root cause is anxiety. It’s still uncomfortable, but I eventually manage to fall back to sleep. Since it happens a lot I know it’s anxiety not a heart problem. I hope this helps.

Sometimes I wake up feeling like mine is barely beating then my chest gets heavy and it bothers me so bad. It's so scary :(

I’ve found that once awake with a fast (or slow) beating heart that it’s good to get up for a little while and read something interesting. I bet you find that you start to calm down and get sleepy.

Thank you..that's a good idea. I've never done that but I keep my tablet right by my head and have my Bible app..would also be comforting.
