Lot of countries introduced a sugar tax. Things shot up in price because of it. Will that stop people eating bad food? No. Why? Because they want to. Just like people want to drink and smoke. If you offered a person Covid I am sure they would turn it down. Even though it is free. But those same people continue to eat junk food and drink and smoke. Should visit Ireland. Talking some high prices for smokes here. But people will still buy them. Some are personal choices. Covid is not a choice. It happens. Luck of the draw.

But they do mandate smoking in many public places because second hand smoke is harmful to those not smoking. Much like spreading Covid may be harmful to others. Some also pay higher insurance premiums if their BMI is in the unhealthy range or they smoke.

I was not posting anything about vaccine mandates, but refuting the false statement that the vaccines don’t work.

The covid vaccines don't stop people from getting and spreading covid, so they don't actually work like other vaccines.

The flu shot is only about 50% effective each year. The Covid vaccines provided good protection against the earlier variants. Omicron seems to be more transmissible even among vaccinated, but the vax still keeps 99+% of people who get it out of the hospital or from dying. I’d say it’s working as well as it could be considering this virus is only two years old. They are still working on improved vaccines and antivirals which, hopefully, will move us closer to ending the pandemic.

The pandemic is almost over. Covid is now endemic and it will stay that way - just like the flu. People have the option to refuse the flu vaccine and they should have the option to refuse the covid vaccine too.

I never said otherwise. We’ll see if it’s almost over. One variant that seems to be less deadly than the others does not mean we are out of the woods anytime soon. Experts disagree on whether the pandemic is close to coming to an end. We will have to wait and see. The more people who are vaccinated and/or exposed to Covid the faster we get there.

So covid passes in England gone great news for like a day. I read today they want them back for gigs by this summer? No nee varient this time just fits the agenda. So I booked a gig in England next month but I fear by summer be back to square one like Scotland demanding vaccine tests to enter? Either we are ditching testing as media reported and getting back to normal or we are not. It’s like the new freedom is just to save Boris not for the good of health.

Unless there is another variant like omicron they are not coming back in England. I feel fairly confident on that one. Our strategy now is "live with it, its endemic", for better or for worse.

That said, I do agree with you on "Boris will do it to save his own arse from a no confidence vote, because the idiot threw parties - sorry, I mean work meetings - in lockdown." Be idiotic to do it though, that's one way to get a no confidence vote. Would have stricter restrictions after Boxing day here in England, but he would be skewered had he done that.

Certs are just about up here too. They are all but useless to have one now. They mean nothing at all. Only need one if you want to go on holiday. As not all countries will be doing away with them. Ireland the UK bought going down the same road.

Vaccine alternative

I have made my own nasal spray. 4 parts distilled water to 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide. I read that will kill anything. I use it one to two times/day.

My mum came back from a cruise she has covid. She pooped into my house for 5 minutes tonight with some food I wasn’t too close to her but she was in the living room I fear she could have spread it?

Dare I say, why was your mother even calling round if she had Covid? Think everybody is to blame here. Her for calling around and you for letting her in. Anywhere else you would be considered a close contact. Fact she was there for such a short time is the best part of all of this.

if it happens, it happens. Not a lot you can do about it. Just have to put up with it and get over it as quickly as you can. Might be just a mild dose. Like the Queen has. Nothing over the top serious.

Yes I think so what’s worse is anxiety worrying I will get it worrying how bad it will be having anxiety makes this all worse. Sure I only seen her 3 minutes maybe chances are low but it’s hard to reassure myself from panicking

When they used to talk about this sort of stuff it was more about 10 minutes in a room with a person who had Covid. You had zero contact with her. Case of hope for the best. I know your anxiety will make you think the worst. Always will do that. That is anxiety for you.

Oh but he does not like the tests. Antigen tests and easy enough. I am sure even he could manage one of them.

Not pleasant sticking the thing up your nose, I will admit. Done enough of then to know that.

No idea what the testing situation in Scotland is though. Lost track of what all the rules are at this point. Know they are scrapping it all in England at somepoint.

Can speculate all we want. Test will tell you if you have it or if you do not.
