I'm so scared right now. I can't stop coughing. I have a headache. I'm losing my voice. I pretty much just feel miserable, though a little better after taking some DayQuil. I'm just so scared that it's COVID and that it'll get worse and I'll die. I just read a story of a 37 year old who died from COVID and he didn't have any pre-existing health conditions....I have high blood pressure and am obese. UGH. I'm so scared right now! I'm pretty sure my boyfriend has it too, which is where I think I got it from. I'm now working from home, just to be on the safe side but I'm terrified.

No I don't have health insurance until September 1 and I'm terrified of taking the test! My best friend has to take it every week for her job and she says it's horrible!

Both of you should get tested, don’t just sit home and worry. If you so have it you need to quarantine. There are lots of places you can get a free test in the US. I know CVS near us advertises free testing.

Yes, my boyfriend was tested Tuesday, so he's good to go, though they told him that he won't get his results back for another 7 days...CRAZY! Things are pretty bad here in South Carolina where I am. I'm just sitting home coughing, working, and freaking out. I can't do the test, I just can't, I've heard it's awful. But I'm so scared that if I have it I'm going to die! I mean, whether I get the test or not doesn't mean anything really except adding to the states total numbers.

Do you have a fever? Until you're tested, you can't be sure it's COVID. And if it is, you have a very good chance of beating it, as millions of others have. Even if you're over 70, the chances of surviving are about 90%, I don't know your age but I'm guessing you're much younger.

Anyway, we have no choice but to rely on our immune system to overcome this virus. Today you're feeling sick, tomorrow it will be me. We can't bury ourselves 300 feet underground in a bunker, we need to keep living and do everything to avoid getting infected, but if it happens, make sure we are giving our body all the tools to overcome it. Drinking lots of fluids, sleep, and stay positive.

Please, keep posting and let us know how you're doing. You're not alone! I don't have a cough but I'm constantly imagining that I'm about to get very sick....

Well I'm only 27 but I've seen quite a few people my age pass from the virus even when they had no pre-existing medical conditions. It's just all so scary and I'm definitely taking every precaution, and yet now here I am. I'm coughing A LOT and it's a dry cough, other than that I'm feeling so much better after taking some Dayquil but I'm still freaked out. The cough is the worst part. What if it's worse tomorrow? I, stupidly, don't own a thermometer and I haven't been able to buy one in months due to the stores always being sold out.....

I'm sorry about you feeling anxious and afraid, I and others here are no different. Yes, young people can get very sick and die from this, but millions have also come through this alive and well. You will too, just keep in there. It's horrible reading about people dying from this, but remember that for every death there are 99 others who have survived, maybe more. You're young, your immune system is working at top level, your body is well able to repair itself, don't despair, if it gets worse, you'll get help. Just treat the symptoms as well as you can and believe in your body to do the rest.

Obesity and high blood pressure don't cancel your immune system, as you said, people with no preexisting conditions die from it, while very old people, as well as immune compromised people survive it. Don't count yourself out, you can beat this!

Inflammation from the infection is the complication that causes a lot of the damage. Take some natural anti-inflammatories. I find fish oil and turmeric work. 600 mg turmeric extract and 7 grams of fish oil pills per day help the painful inflamed nerve damage in my foot.

I would still get tested even if your boyfriend did. The number of false negatives can be significant depending on when you get tested (how many days after exposure/symptoms) so the likelihood of both of you having a false neg is smaller. If one is positive the other surely also has it. There are different tests as well, not all are the swab up the nose. But it only lasts a few seconds and sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do. If you do have it you need to quarantine at home for at least two weeks, no going out anywhere. So it is kind of important that you know if you have it.

Unfortunately here in South Carolina I've only found that they do the swab up the nose....NO FUN lol I'm just trying to stay positive. I'm working from home, wearing a mask when I go out, and still taking Dayquil. I probably just have a sinus infection or something because I feel like my symptoms are mostly in my head.....headache, plugged up ears with lots of pressure, pressure all over my face, lightheadedness, always thirsty, coughing, loss of voice (getting better) and that's it! The more I have it the more I'm like....this doesn't seem like COVID lol it seems like a sinus infection. But who knows. I'm pretty much quarantining...so I think that as long as I can kick this in the butt I'll be good. I definitely am going to be sleeping all weekend. It was a battle even to wake up to 'go to work' in my own bed lol I can't wait till 4pm....then I'll be free till Monday! If it gets worse I'll go get tested but I already am coughing less than yesterday so there's good news!

Ok, stay mentally positive and believe that you're in a good position to overcome this. You're stronger than you think!

Well I had a lot more energy this morning and was even able to run to the store and get some groceries but this afternoon has not been good at all. I'm not coughing as much but I've had diarrhea, I feel all shaky, and the worst thing is I've lost my taste! UGH! I've read about the losing the taste thing online but it's so frustrating. I'm so scared to go get a test but I'm getting more and more worried that I have it. Plus this afternoon I keep watching how I'm breathing which is not good for a hypochondriac because I keep thinking that I can't breathe even though I'm not dead on the floor gasping for air....ugh this is the worst. I really hope this isn't COVID!

Don’t go out anymore, if it is covid you need to quarantine yourself. Please don’t spread it to others. They just reported today that younger people have more stomach/headache issues. Please quarantine yourself and don’t go out. Stay hydrated and take meds if you need it to clear any mucus or bring your fever down. Any word on your bf’s test?

Well I kind of had to go out because I dont' have any family here to help me through this or get me food and unfortunately where I live is out of the way for any kind of delivery service to bring me food.....so that was kind of essential and I'll have to keep going out if I need food, but I definitely take all precautions, I don't want to get anyone sick even if this isn't COVID! My boyfriend was told to quarantine by his doctor so I kind of have to help both of us right now, though honestly he feels a lot better than I do right now. But we're both not ourselves. Normally we can eat and eat and eat lol but now we start eating and food just doesn't sound appetizing. He probably won't get his tests back until the middle of this coming week. Thankfully I don't have a fever, well, I don't actually know haha I don't own a thermometer and all the stores are sold out, but I'm definitely trying to stay hydrated! I just hate being by myself through all of this. What happens if I pass out? I'm scared.

How are you feeling today?
Thanks for asking! I feel as if I'm having a harder time breathing today, and I'm hoping that it's just all in my head! It's starting to freak me out a bit, but my nose is like completely stuffed up so maybe that's why. Well, that's not true, I can breathe through my nose but it feels like it's all congested...it's very odd.
The worst part for me is that I can't taste anything and I can't smell anything, not even cold medicine! It's awful, but my cough is so much better!!! So I'm thankful that's gotten better. Still not going to work though because we still haven't gotten back my boyfriend's test results. Probably won't get them back till, well at the earliest, tomorrow. I'm glad I have a little bit more energy but I still don't have a lot.

Just to be perfectly transparent, I'm less concerned about still being sick than I am about not being able to taste anything. What if my sense of taste doesn't come back? I mean, it's been 3 days....I'm really concerned!

I have the same symptom, it's as if I'm gasping for air sometimes, but my oxygen saturation is at 98/99%. I'm pretty sure it's just anxiety.

Great news that the cough has gotten better, and your energy is coming back. As for the loss of smell and taste, I'm not a doctor, obviously, but people say they have gotten them back, eventually. So, we'll see. Just try and stay positive and get well!
