Has anyone else been accused of being unpleasant as a result of their depression?

I attempt to make up for it by smiling and being courteous, but I think people can see right through it and still regard me as rude because it's all a ruse to them. Is there anyone else?:dead:

We even get that with anxiety. Simply because we are focused on getting through each day. So other people can view us as cold. We might not go to things if invited. Simply because we couldn't handle it. But others see it as rude. By now none of it bothers me at all. I do what I feel I have to do to get through every thing. Not everybody knows I have anxiety issues. So I can understand them viewing things the way they do.

In my case it's warranted because it makes me outwardly moody. But I hate the whole "you're using it as an excuse" thing. Yeah. I'm definitely like this because it's fun for me.

This happened only while on wellbutrin.
This depression medication made me into a homicidal maniac.
I was short fused And ready to fight over anything.
Thank God my wife told me I needed to get off of it just deal with depression other ways.

One thing is certain, it's a waste of time trying to explain anxiety to someone who has never experienced it. Everyone gets anxious in their lives about something. Acute anxiety is common, but it soon passes. Chronic anxiety does not pass, and it translates into all sorts of problems, and even depression. 'Snap out of it'. 'Pull yourself together'. 'Don't be so childish'. Yeah!!! heard them all. They can make the sufferer feel worse as if they lack something or, in the case of men, are weak and unmanly. Ignore the ignorant. Don't make excuses about your anxiety. It's not your fault and self blame can cause more problems. Keep well away from critics, if you can. They can have a negative effect on you. You need encouragement not criticism.

I know my health anxiety makes me very self-obsessed.
