I often like to listen to sports radio stations on the FM dial.

But lately when I tune into a sports station, it seems like half the time the sports show hosts are talking about the coronavirus.

I don't mind them talking about the virus occasionally. However, they talk about it too much, in my opinion, because when I listen to sports radio stations, I want to hearing about sports news, such as about the Red Sox and the Patriots.

In my view, if I want to hear about the virus on the radio, I'll tune into news radio stations.

It just annoys me because, while I want to hear about the virus some so I can be informed and stay safe, I don't want to hear about the virus too much because I don't want to start getting worried and panicky about it. The media does like to scare their listeners and viewers, after all.

This is because there is no sport because of the virus. Last night the UFC held an event. One fighter tested positive and had to be pulled from the card. Is all about how they go about getting sports back. Take Germany. They were planning a return to football soon. Every player was tested. So many came back positive. But in order to have sports back they would have to test players every week. There would be no fans at any events. So the debate is if it is worth it or not. That is all you will get on a sport's show at the moment. I listen in nightly to one here in Ireland. With no actual sports on and there have been none for a while now, there is no new content to talk about. So they either play old interviews or they talk about the virus and what it means for sports. All about money come the end of the day. How much people will lose. TV rights and the crowds. Over here they are not trying to panic people on the sport's shows. Just talk out how things might play out over the next few months were sports is concerned. You call the game soccer. We call it football. But there are a lot of smaller clubs. Longer this goes on, the worse it is for them. Some might have to fold. This happened over here with about 16 games to go in the league season. The league season just stopped. Do they get to finish it off? Do they just cancel it? One team had not one the biggest title in 30 years. They were a good 16 points clear. Easily going to win it. Then this happened. If the league is just cancelled they win nothing. Other countries have just ended the league. Whoever was top was awarded the title. Unfair on other teams who could have caught up with them and overtaken them. Other bigger sporting events cancelled until next year. Meant to happen this Summer. Will happen next Summer now. If you like sport you want to know what is going to happen. We get games from every country. We now just get reports on the situation in those countries and football. Will it be back or won't it be back. Can they afford to test players every week. The idea of renting a hotel and keeping the players locked in it. Until the season ends. Lot of crazy ideas been suggested. You only hear all this on the sport's radio station.

The other day, I was listening to a sports talk radio station. They were talking about how the virus may affect the upcoming NFL season. They were discussing if they might have to shorten the season because of the virus. And they were discussing how they might have to play games with no fans in the stands.

That I can see. They have to discuss how the virus affects the NFL and other sports.

But what I don't like is when the sports talk show hosts start talking about issues regarding the virus that have nothing to do with sports. I think those topics should be talked about on news talk radio stations, not sports talk radio stations.

I agree with you there. Sports related only. Our Gaelic football season should have began today in Ireland. Dublin have won the All-Ireland for 5 years in a row. We were going for 6 this year. They said it would take something special to stop Dublin. I guess a virus is special. Looks like it won't be happening this year at all. Talking 80,000 at Dublin games. The only thing that could stop us was this virus. Sport and the virus I agree they should only talk about.
