So a bit of TMI in this post but I will try and keep it as low key as possible.

I have long standing stomach and bowel issues, lots of reflux, IBS etc. I've been putting off a colonoscopy for about five years now.

The past few weeks I've been having occasional bouts of black flecks in my stool (mostly when I wipe). There are about the size of a fleck of ground black pepper and kind of the same consistency too, though I've had one or two that looked like a single coffee ground. My stools have also had a lighter color and have been loose and mucousy.

Tonight I had an accident. No prior warning, thought I had to pass gas and made a small mess, apparently I had some diarrhea. Again I had those small pepper like flecks when I wiped. I'm really worried those flecks are dried blood and I've got bowel cancer. I'm 31 and have a 7 year old son and a daughter on the way so this one really has me worried.

Anyone else had black flecks like that? The other can be chalked up to long standing IBS but the overall picture now is starting to worry me.

Hello

Is there any other logical reason maybe ? Are you taking iron supplements or any other medications while pregnant?

I don't know, I've never made it a habit of looking at my stool. :D However, based on my time contributing to anxiety forums, I can tell you that this seems to be rather common. A lot of people have experienced this, and it's usually caused by something in the diet. Ask your doc about it next time you see them, and if need be just monitor occasionally in the meantime. You'll be fine.

Ibs is quite common in the US.
I have recently found out I can't eat gluten it causes me bad issues.
I wouldn't worry about cancer so much as 2/3 of the population doesn't get cancer.
The only reason why Americans are so afraid of cancer is that it's pushed all over us and early detection.
Also it's moist within the colon and if these were flakes of blood there would be blood in the stool or toilet.
I am willing to bet it's what you're eating and nothing more.
At your age colon cancer is very rare, a client of mine has stage 4 colon cancer found out 3 years ago and it was diagnosed as stage 4.
He's still alive and fighting his only symptoms were bad fatigue and abdominal bloating.
You have to fight this and realise it's your worries they have taken you captive.

I appreciate this I've had a similar concern, would you be willing to look at it here? https://www.anxietycommunity.com/index.php?threads/panicking-now-tmi-stool.9440/
