Anyone else get these weird pre-dream thoughts before they fall asleep? I get this thing where I feel like I'm talking to other people before I drift off to sleep. Like its entirely in my head and just my thoughts but it feels like they are talking to me. I never remember the topics and when I wake up fully I don't have them. They aren't hypnagogic hallucinations either.

I know how much sleep has always affected my anxiety in one way or another. 99 percent of my panic attacks have been upon awakening. When it is just anxiety its terrible upon awakening, sometimes i go to bed and feel like a completely different polar opposite person once i wake up as in being full of fear and anxiety. Quite strange.

At night it is dark. We are slipping off to sleep. Many things run through our minds. No harm in a little talking with yourself. Chances are you are part asleep and part awake. I would consider what happens to you as normal. Others might do it and not remember doing it.

My brain does all kinds of weird things before I fall asleep. I can actually tell when I'm about to fall asleep because all these weird nonsensical thoughts keep filling my mind when I'm trying to think about something else entirely.

Yes, I used to hear conversations that made no sense. It was disturbing. It’s your hyper stimulated mind causing this. Accept and allow it to happen, don’t fight it. It is benign. In my own recovery I’ve noticed this “phenomenon” is practically gone now.

Yes, in fact I had it really bad last night. It was like I was dreaming while still awake. I think it's due to different parts of the brain shutting down for sleep at different rates, rather than all at the same time.
