Weird ear thing, clogged, ringing, now sharp ABOVE the ear

Saturday night I was in the shower and i noticed my ear felt clogged. I figured i just got soap in it so I made sure to rinse it well. After getting out and getting ready, it was still clogged feeling, and then i noticed there was a weird feedback ringing sound in my ear anytime anyone or myself spoke. It was so annoying and like that Saturday night and all day Sunday. Then it gradually started clearing up and now it feels clear and no more ringing, so THAT’S good. But now I’m having a random sharp pain that’s not inside the ear, but outside, toward the face, almost right where the top of the ear connects to the face. Inbetween there and the little cartilage flap. It doesn’t hurt all day long, just in waves of sharp pain. It’s been doing that for two days now occasionally. Has anyone had this happen???

About a year ago I woke up with a clogged feeling ear and then it progressed to almost a robotic/tinny sound when people spoke or even other noises. I went to the doctor who told me to use nasal spray and said I had fluid behind my eardrum. It persisted so I finally went to ENT and he said there was no fluid and it was most likely some kind of infection and put me on steroids. At that point I had basically lost all hearing in that ear. About a week after the steroids my hearing returned, thankfully. So it didn't go away on it's own and I didn't have pain. I would say if your hearing gets weird again go to ENT if you can. Most doctors don't know how to treat it and you need to start steroids as soon as possible with something like that. The ENT told me 1/3 of patients with that get worse, 1/3 stay the same, and 1/3 get better if you start steroids soon enough.

Last year in April I woke up with a weird uncomfortable feeling in my jaw...that progressed to my ear being clogged, everytime I chewed my ear clogged more, sometimes wouldn't unclog, etc...i don't go to docs but it eventually got better.

My point is all of that area in your face is connected, and especially this time of year these types of issues can happen. It will resolve eventually.

I was just coming on here to post about something similar. My ear has been clogging and unclogging on and off since Saturday. When it clogs I also get ringing/buzzing. It’s freaking me out because whatever symptoms I get, I automatically think it’s cancer so without even googling my mind jumped straight to that!

Could be ear wax. The only cancer in anyway related to the ear has an incidence of 1-100,000 and is 99% curable.

My ear is usually clogged and ringing on and off ( tinnitus ) throughout the year . Comes and goes , never anything serious.

I’ve had tinnitus off and on for about 5 years. When it bothers me when I try to sleep, I just turn on my rain sounds. I hope it doesn’t get worse but for now it’s not bad.
