Three times here lately I have had an episode where I would have really bad heartburn for a while, then it would stop and I would get a sour nasty taste in my mouth and my mouth would water uncontrollably. Like water to the point I had to spit constantly. Kind feels like what happens right before you throw up.

I had this happen a few minutes ago and for some reason drinking a couple of sips of milk knocked it right out.

I've had GERD and reflux issues all my life but this is a new symptom. Anyone else experience this?

this really isn't a "weird" symptom persay. it sounds like acid from your stomach made it past your esophagus and into your throat, with some of it possibly even reaching your mouth. this can happen with GERD if it's especially bad. there's also a similar/related condition called LPR (which i have.) with LPR, acid frequently reaches the throat. it creates a few unique symptoms that set it aside from typical GERD but treatment is pretty much the same.

milk is often used to calm reflux so it's not surprising it worked. pay attention to what you ate or what you were doing before it happened. it'll help to note patterns and triggers so you can avoid them. good luck!

Ahh, I drank a couple of beers last night and had tea with breakfast this morning, I bet that is what set me off. Trips me out because the watering mouth is new, and of course as a hypochondriac new always scares me.

alcohol is horrible for reflux (unfortunately) and drinking it at night, probably within a few hours of going to sleep makes it doubly bad. that's very likely the cause.

This is a textbook symptom of GERD. It can still make us anxious of course, but that's definitely where it's coming from. No mystery! Be careful about eating or drinking much before you go to bed, and try to sleep on an incline if you can. There are some great wedge pillows on Amazon (I'm on one right now!).
