Last night was a rough one.. I wondered if I was dehydrated or something but I woke in the middle of the night having a racing heart... beating hard, and fast... I got up to use the bathroom then laid back down and did some breathing exercises which slowed it down just enough to fall back asleep.... then a little bit later, I wake again to a racing heart... Any of you get this happening?

And yes, been under pressure at work with stuff as well as a vacation by flight in a month or so which is in the back of my head...

I definitely have experienced this, especially when my HA is becoming consuming. It always adds to my heart fears. But more often than not, it doesn't happen when I'm not having anxiety issues! Sounds like the breathing exercises are helping some. I also try drinking some water when it happens like you mentioned, maybe being a little dehydrated doesn't help. I hope this passes for you and things at work get better!

Thanks Jen,
yea I'm at work today after that rough nights sleep... It's funny cause when this happens and I get the poor sleep and all, then I experience loss of appetite the next day... happens to me every time so I then have to forcefeed myself...

as for the water drinking at night, it's a catch 22... if you don't drink water you get dehydration which makes the heart pump... if you do drink water, it wakes your body and metabolism up so then you can't sleep :) take your pick!

Yes. Or in my case, wake up 4 times to use the bathroom. It really is all so frustrating!

Do you have to go pee a bunch? I mean when you get up to go is it a lot of pee or just a tiny bit? Reason I ask is cause when I get up in the night to go to the bathroom after waking to a rapid beating heart, I will urinate everything out... scared I'm dehydrating myself or something...

Yes, and I found that drinking after 6 is what really does it. Bit I'm rebellious and stay up late so stupidly drink after 6. Not always but more often than not.

There is a book out called "Power Sleep" by Dr.Maas that gives you tips on how you can sleep better long term... talks about going to bed at the same time every night, waking at same time... gets you in a groove of sleeping ...

Now when I don't have the symptoms like we talked about... I'm doing what he says and it works... check it out if you can...
