A couple of days ago i was flipping through the channels on tv at night and i watched about 30 minutes of a serial killer documentary and got triggered by it. My heart started racing while watching it and felt uneasy. I turned it off then went to bed and while trying to fall asleep my heart kept racing and i had a nightmare. Since then though ive been feeling very anxious and i cant seem to get the awful things from the documentary out of my head. I worry that similar bad things will happen to me. Also since ive watched it ive been having weird harm OCD thoughts which is new for me. Are all these feelings normal?? I do have ocd yet haven't experienced this type before. It's an unsettling feeling...i try to distract myself from these irrational thoughts but it's hard to do. Ugh i wish i never watched that damn tv show

It just frightened you is all. Can happen. Lesson learned. Never watch anything about serial killers again. It will only put thoughts in your head. I will admit to having a web site about serial killers. What they do is never nice. For some unknown reason people seem to like to watch things about them and read things about them. Because of what they done. Bad as it was. But for a person like yourself it fed you with thoughts. Made your heart race. All is normal though. Now you have to try and find some way to calm yourself back down. Forget about what you watched.

I worked at a psych hospital (and was locked up in it) for over a decade and never knew a serial killer. It's really rare. I knew a dozen people who had killed people, but no serial killers. You are more likely to die from falling out of bed than to get killed by one. 450 people die every year from falling out of bed.

Here in Ireland the count is possibly 1 serial killer ever. Possibly because nobody has ever been arrested and charged over the disappearance of a number of women. We all know his name. He did serve time for another crime. Never could pin anything else on him. Out of all the crime we have here, just 1 you would class as a serial killer. Rare would be the word.
