Is it possible for your tonsils to shrink?
I know pretty well what my tonsils look like because I’m always checking them for various HA reasons (not proud of this). However, I went to look at them today because my throat felt kind of scratchy and my tonsil on the left side is almost non existent. It literally looks like it shrunk or moved back way further in my throat. It’s so strange! Has this happened to anyone else? I really don’t want to Google

Normal. From an ENT specialist:

The tonsils are made from lymphoid tissue, which is part of our immune system. The tonsils are larger in childhood and usually begin to shrink down around age 6. In some people the tonsils do not shrink down and persist into adulthood.
