Does anyone use it to relax? I know some people say it makes anxiety worse. What are your thoughts?

I haven’t, but it may be worth googling some of the side effects as I would probably end up with more anxiety over analysing those!

If it works, I see nothing wrong with using it from time to time. For me, it definitely gives me intense panic attacks, unfortunately. But for others it seems to work wonders.

I'm kinda torn. I used to smoke a TON when I was a kid. Then one day I got something that was laced and had a really bad experience and ever since then it did me more harm then good. However, now that it is becoming legal in alot of areas, I have been buying it legally and trying it out again. I feel better knowing that I am buying it from a store that has to go through tests and quality practices to make sure it is up to standard. I understand how it could make some people feel uneasy. It does make me dizzy sometimes or kinda spacy, which could induce an attack if you focus on that. But if you can get past that and focus on something else, it does seem to help quite a bit. I took a couple puffs before bed last night and got the best sleep I have gotten in quite a long time.

Makes you paranoid. Anxious too. Some people claim they have a heightened sense of awareness when using it. That would be the paranoia. Aware of every little thing going on around them.

I tried it in college and it either did nothing or made me extremely paranoid so that’s a no go for me.

CBD oil works for me. I don’t use it every day but once in a while when I can’t lessen my anxiety in other ways. There is no THC so you don’t get high at all. Some say it helps with sleep although I don’t find it makes me sleepy at all.

here are two cents from a daily smoker:

IT REALLY DEPENDS... it depends on strain (stativa or indica), what you're planning to do after you smoke and how much you smoke. it also depends on whether you're inclined to enjoy it. some people just aren't wired to enjoy it and they won't regardless of any of the above mentioned factors.

if you plan on being lazy, you want an indica (think "in da couch.") indica gives much more of your typical TV stoner high. sativa tends to give you a little pep so it's good if you've got errands to do or are going for a walk or something.

dosing isn't a science if you plan on smoking or vaping it so START SLOW. even if you used to smoke a lot. you can always smoke more but you can't smoke less. i'm prone to anxiety if i smoke too much and don't have something to keep my mind busy.

if you live in a legal state, the people working at the shops are very knowledgeable and helpful. let em know what you're looking for and what you're afraid and they can get you the stuff that'll work the best.

Never smoked in my life but my dad(who does not consider himself to have anxiety) said he tried it twice when he was young..only twice because he thought he did something wrong the first time.

He says what he experienced both times were probably panic attacks.

I would say it depends on your reaction to it. I know several people for whom it has a powerful calming effect. Personally it makes me paranoid and very aggressive, so I avoid it.

It makes me paranoid and severely anxious, and makes my heart pound ridiculously.

me too It gives me a lot of anxiety and I feel like my heart is coming out of my chest. every time I've asked anybody if they can feel their heart they look at me like I'm crazy and I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown when I smoke

That's what I feel, too. I asked a cardiologist about it, and he brushed it off as "the stuff was probably laced, you never know these days." But one, this started way back around 2004, and two, it was home grown and not laced I know for a fact. No idea why it happens, also no idea why I had been fine numerous times smoking the same stuff.

I used to love smoking bud and was smoking it regularly up until around mid 2018 when I developed an ocd/hypochrondria obsession with my heart rate. I still smoke a little, but I don't really enjoy it and can't smoke like I used to as the high just makes me obsess about my heart rate and when I check it and it's mildly or moderately raised from the cannabis (marijuana will raise your heart rate for 20 mins to an hour depending on how much you smoked. How high it will get will also depend on how much thc is getting into your system) it just makes me paranoid and anxious and I just lay in bed trying not to obsess or think about it till it starts to fall. There's just no fun in it anymore. It's really annoying because I've had periods through the years where I smoked A LOT and very strong stuff from when I woke up to when I went to bed and I never cared about my heart rate or anything. Now just a little bit and I'm freaking out...sigh.

Anyway, I would say in general that marijuana is generally not the drug to ease anxiety. For some people it can be a great source of relaxation, but generally I'd say (especially if you already have anxiety disorders) it's probably going to trigger more anxiety and not help you relax. Throughout the years I've smoked It's a lot of the time been a role of the dice for me on how it will affect me and the environmental situation I was in. If I was alone and I smoked or with my best friend it was generally a very relaxed time, but if it was already in a situation where I wasn't completely comfortable or with people I wasn't completely comfortable with it could instead trigger anxiety issues.

I use a tincture of oil orally. It's a 50/50 mix of thc and cbd. I also have just straight cbd oil. Cbd doesn't give you the high but has relaxing effects, and with the 50/50 mix the cbd supposedly helps offset the anxiety from the thc. Dont know if it's true or not but I use both with varying success. Sometimes it's a godsend, and others it just helps quiet things down to a dull roar

CBD has the calming effects and some other benefits without getting you high. Ive used it for pain, to help me sleep, to relax my anxiety. It's been a godsend
