Lately I’ve had this feeling like I can’t swallow right away when I want to. So naturally, I try over and over all day. I assume I’m tiring out my throat muscles and that’s what’s causing it mostly. We’ve also had colds this last week or so and today I feel awful with sinus drain into the back of my throat and severe lethargy. It never happens when I’m drinking. Often when swallowing nothing or dry foods. It helps me think through it as anxiety when I write it out. Still, I enjoy hearing other accounts of similar things. Thanks, guys.

I have this feeling allot! I think it's anxiety and sinus related. But I have freaked out many times over it lately. It's no fun for sure.

Yes I get this. But if I focus and worry about it too much i can also develop a cough and feeling like my throat is hoarse and I've even had it when my throat closes up and I physically can't breath for a few seconds. I also get weird menthol sensation in my mouth and nasal drip. About 6 years ago I went to drs about it and he said very common with anxiety suffers and it's related to nerves. It's called Laryngeal hypersensitivity. Not dangerous at all and as usual told to just calm down (eye roll)

Yep, I find over and over that if I get distracted, or eat, or scared about something else... it literally vanishes. Another stupid anxiety symptom! :-D Thanks for the reply.

You are not alone. I have had this on and off for many years. Unsurprisingly, it happens when I am under stress or anxious about something. Then I will have spells that will last days or weeks. Then it goes away. When it's really bad I feel like I won't be able to even swallow my own saliva. Like my body "forgets" how to swallow.

I was diagnosed with panic disorder & agoraphobia decades ago. It is under control (Prozac) but the one thing that never went away completely is a fear of eating in public (choking). I can do most restaurants but for some reason mall food courts and the like cause the most issues.
