Not sure if Big Country ever made it in the US. Always just loved the whole sound of their music. Scottish feeling to the music. Music belongs in the 80's. Lead singer took his own life a few years back.
Big Country was on the jukebox at the cafe I ran back in the 2000s. More recent Scot bands like the Fratellis, and Franz Ferdinand never got too popular here but I really like them.

Looks like Take Me Out hit #66

This got kind of popular.

There was even an orchestra version

Love this song. Janis Ian was only 16 when she wrote and sang this song. Brave song for the time it was sang in. About mixed relationships. Black and white. More the reactions of society to such relationships.

My favorite music from my youth was the devil music. It made me the miscreant I am today. This one has been going throgh my head lately. At work it really seems like I am on the Hot Rails to Hell.

A band I love. Lead singer did quit for a short period of time and David Coverdale and Glen Huges joined. That gave us the Burn album. I always consider it a once off album. Excellent at that. Let us just say that Coverdale is a different type of singer than Iam Gillan ( normal singer ).

Second video has the orignal singer, Ian Gillan, singing. I say original, but they were out in the late 60's as a different type of band. Another singer and music that was popular during that era. But any Deep Purple fan will always have Gillan as the main man in the band.
