For a few months I have had one our the other eyelid swell from what seems to be allergic reactions to something. I am unable to determine what’s causing it but figured I would see if anybody else has experienced this. I was considering going to the allergist. Thanks.

I've had this before...my culprit was poison ivy I believe, but in reading it's quite normal.

Yea. Just super annoying and of course my mind tries to dons horrible reasons. Apparently, eyelids swelling is one of the most common dust or pet dander allergies. Bummer.

This morning I got up, drank some water, used an Albuterol inhaler for my cough, and went straight to the gym. No food or anything. As I walked into the gym, my upper lip started swelling. I took a Benadryl and within ten minutes it started going back down. Now it’s normal again. This actually happened the first time I experienced my eye swelling but hasn’t happened since. I’m at a loss as to what could be causing it. It’s a bit freaky. I did set up an appointment with an allergist to get allergy testing done next Thursday. I’ve never heard of stuff like this happening before.

I finally set up an appointment with an allergist tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can get some answers and figure out what’s going on.

Doctor said likely hives with only the swelling. Basically, idiopathic angioedema. He is doing a blood test to make sure my body can stop swelling on its own. If it is negative, then I just wait for the swelling to stop on it’s own. It could last over a year he said. Bah! Just waiting for those results and I can relax.

I appreciate the comment and I know it will very likely come back as being fine and I can move on. But man, these few days of waiting for results really suck! :-/

One result came back and it was directly in the middle of the normal range. That gave me some peace. That was two days ago. I’m not completely sure if there are more coming or if that’s it. The doctor told me we wanted a negative result on “the” test but when they drew blood the lady led me to believe it was four total tests. Now I’m not sure if I’m still waiting for some results or if I’m good to relax.

For anyone looking back and reading this. I THINK I have all results back. They took 6 vials so I am not sure. They did say one of the tests was using 3 vials. I have received three sets of results back so far and every single one has been in the normal ranges on all counts. I am not sure if there is one more coming or not. I think I have them all back and now I just wait for the doctor to call me and tell me to wait for the hives/swelling to stop on its own. So much for worrying over nothing. Good luck to the next guy!
