Scared of rabies, distrustful of vaccine

71 days ago, I woke up with a mark or line on my face. I am terrified it came from a rabid bat. I tore up my room looking for any bat, but I couldn't find it. In response to my anxiety, my doctor, decided to give me three doses in order to calm me down, but I'm still not calmed down. I've called health departments, the cdc rabies control, immunology departments, and all their answers were that three doses were enough. What do you guys think? Do you think three doses is enough to cover me because I read that proper post exposure was four doses and immunoglobulin.

71 days ago? You would know if you had rabies long before now. That is 2 1/2 months. The symptoms would have shown themselves by now. So I think you can relax. You have no got rabies.

As for the rabies vaccine? I do trust the doctor and others you have talked to. 3 doses would be enough. I just don't think you had rabies. More just your anxiety fearing the worst.

What does somebody else think? No offense to the first guy, thanks for the response.

I’d say the doctors and everyone else you’ve spoken to would know better than any of us. If they say that it’s fine I don’t see any reason not to trust them. As someone still halfway into a rabies phobia I get the fear aspect. Anxiety is a symptom of rabies and that is a nightmare for someone with chronic anxiety. The chances of you even contracting rabies in the first place are almost non existent, with getting the vaccine on top of it I’d say your pretty dang safe. There’s also no reason for any of those doctors or agencies to lie to you about your dosage and it’s effectiveness.

Anxiety straight up.
Let it go.
You probably scratched yourself while sleeping.
Not all bats have rabies.
It's more common in racoons by a larger margin.

I keep thinking that but I’m still afraid it’s rabies because that’s the one disease you can go wrong about, with its nearly 100 percent fatality rate. It’s got me thinking about committing suicide, I just can’t stand it.

Please call somebody. Get some help or just someone to talk to that can reassure you. You don’t have rabies. You really really dont

I am getting help but it doesn’t seem to help. I am not thinking about killing myself right now but the thought crosses my mind sometimes. I wish I can show you guys the picture of the mark but for some reason the thing won’t let me do so.
Here’s the image. Figured it out. What do you guys think? (It’s the brown lines or streaks) B87681EA-70BB-4C85-B775-3077F9EDE154.jpeg

Why rabies??? Initial symptoms are headache and fever. You don’t seem to have that.

He doesn't want to trust our opinions. Can see that by how he answered my post above. Even looking at the picture I still don't think it is rabies.

It’s not. There’s 0 chance. I can understand it though, I know when my HA is high like that I am torn between wanting reassurance and wanting someone to validate what I’m feeling

Hi Will,
Other people will tell you that it’s just your anxiety and you need to get over it. But that’s it exactly, ANXIETY/OCD! You can’t just ‘get over it’. If we could, we would!
I’m so f&cking scared of bats and rabies and it’s taking over everything. I’ve been really scared of going blind for a few years now. & I found out bats can make you blind. Then someone showed me an awful video of a little boy with rabies dying (he got scratched by a bat). And now it’s all been downhill from there.
I check rooms & windows and behind doors. I analyse every mark on my body. The town I live in, hundreds of fruit bats fly over every night and sit in the trees. So I’m scared to drink/eat outside just in case the virus dropped from the sky (in their poo/wee) & got on my food/in my drinks. I kept washing my hands non stop with soap & got sores so Thankfully my psychologist told me about skin sensitive hand sanitizers so I use that now... so much! Every tiny piece of hair I think “f&ck what if that’s off a bat”.
I use to walk my dogs at night because no one is out, I have social anxiety & I can’t stand the heat (that makes me more irritated). But recently I can’t now. The last time I tried to walk them at night, the bats were flying around up in a tree at the end of my driveway, so I ducked and ran back inside the house, nearly going into a panic attack.
Anyway, I’m just glad I’m not alone on all of this and somebody else understands. I’ve been feeling like a psycho thinking I’m going crazy. But I know it’s the anxiety/OCD. I’m trying to find better medication but it’s been a roller coaster.
I really hope you find some peace and people who will listen to you and try to help. Message me anytime:)

Thank you Erc6, it is very nice to know that I am not alone in this world with a fear of rabies. I just wish someone would tell me to get an extra shot because everyone tells me I'm fine and have all the shots I need. But still, I don't feel safe! Did you ever get the rabies vaccine? Was it three doses for you?

Will, I know this time is hard as hell, but you will get through the next however many days until you're beyond the exposure time and you will be able to breathe a sigh of massive relief. You're not crazy, but once these things get in to your head it's almost impossible to push them aside.

A bat perched itself on my back 8 days ago (I live in the Philippines) and I've been panicking a lot Idk what to do. My parents and sister told me it's fine cuz they didn't see any marks only back acne and I poured alcohol on my back and neck to see if there were any burning sensations but there weren't, but it's got me worked up. I just don't know what to do and I can't get shots cuz of how expensive it is.

I don't know where this long incubation period info for rabies comes from on the internet but must be an extremely rare case.

When I had the worst rabies fear and had to wait with fear I was 16-17 and we didn't have internet back then. So less likely to gather rubbish information and luckily my best friend's older sister was a vet, I had pets myself so I got to ask my vet. I got to ask drs I visited and when I finally got the vaccination around day 9 which I was told that it was late, then I talked to the drs there. That was the only thing made me very scared that I got vaccinated late.
But I didn't hear from any of these people that the incubation period was long. All of them told me that if I was to start having symptoms then it would be before 30-40 days at most.
