Guys I'm really spiraling. I've been a bit better over the last year, but after a routine physical I had some bloodwork done which revealed a BUN of 21 (normal was 20 and below). I also had a low egfr at 76 (although the lab says normal is over 59, I found multiple sites listing anything under 90 as being in stage 2 CKD). I am 34 and in good shape. No high BP or diabetes. I do lift weights almost daily and have started taking protein supplements in the last year. My doctor doesn't seem concerned and said that it could be anything from dehydration to additional protein consumption, but my mind keeps racing. My blood pressure went from 114/72 to 120/74 this visit so I'm in my head about my BP rising and impacting the kidneys. I'm overly conscious about how much I'm drinking and feel thirsty all the time. Every time I see a urine bubble in the toilet I'm wondering if it's too bubbly or foamy. I keep checking my ankles to see if they are swollen (they aren't, even my HA riddled brain can acknowledge that). Any help or anyone who has been through something similar before would be appreciated. Thank you!

If your Dr isn't worried then try not be. I totally understand though I'm due blood results and my mind is racing to the worst outcome and I haven't even got the numbers yet. Try and stay away from googling results. I think the more we check the more we imagine the worst. I swear everything I have seen on the TV today has been about cancer and it just leaves me in total anxiety. I no I'm getting a bad bout of HA when I start body checking.

kme, a few years ago I could have written your post. I was frantic as well after Googling. I too stood and watched as every bubble in the toilet dissolved to a point where I was finally satisfied, and would flush. I finally got the courage to question my doctor who like you, hadn’t said a word about my results.

He also had no concern. He explained that he looks at numerous readings to come up with any concerns he might have, and had none with me. I finally accepted that the body does weird things sometimes and that’s why doctors are who should analyze these things after many years of study, and many thousands of patients seen.

BTW, blood pressure changes from moment to moment. Yours regardless is excellent. Try to relax and accept what the doc said as a win.

Thanks for the responses. They really do help. I'm feeling a little better. I asked my doctor if I could do a follow up and he ordered one for a month and suggested I stop taking protein supplements. I get about 130g a day through my regular diet so I don't think it's needed anyway. I also googled what to do for a creatinine tests and it may have actually been telling. It said do not eat for than 4 ozs of cooked meat more than 24 hrs before (I basically tripled that on my last test as I cooked steaks the day before). It also said do not lift weights or engage in strenuous activity the day before testing (I lifted weights in the morning and played hockey at night on the day before getting my blood tested first thing in the morning). Said to be extra hydrated (dont remember drinking much before after playing hockey until ten the night before...also hit a sauna earlier in the day). Basically did everything that you aren't supposed to do. I'll go ahead and retest in a month, but for once googling made me feel better.
