Pain between shoulders. Feels like muscle, but doesn't react to pain meds. Flares at night.

So about 3-4 weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with pain and soreness that felt like a pulled muscle right between my shoulder blades. It was way worse lying on my side and it got to the point I had to get up and take some ibuprofen. It helped a little and I got some sleep, but it bothered me for almost a week and was always worse at night. Then it went away.

Sunday night, I was awoken again with the same pain, and it's a little worse than last time. It doesn't really seem to respond to Ibuprofen as well as Tylenol. There's not lumps, or tender spots, but it just feels like a really bad strain. However, I also woke up last night all sweaty, and I've just felt "off" since this started a few days ago. It's way worse at night and has woken me up every night since it has happened. I literally cannot find a position to lay in that doesn't make it hurt badly. Typing this out sounds like a routine muscle strain, but the fact that pain meds don't help much, and it's way worse lying down has me wondering if it might be a tumor somewhere. I'm trying to talk myself off the ledge so to speak, but it's not improving 4 days later.

I think with anxiety it is very easy for us to get such pains. As we never fully relax the body. We are always tensed up. I get them in and around the shoulder area. May last a few days. Have taken to using a tennis ball to massage the area. Can help at times. I do see them as muscular. More common than you might imagine. Plus people would get them in various parts of the body. Might be how they sleep at night. We twist and we turn. Could be from lifting something. If we were not as tensed up we would probably not get them.

I just worry about the fact that it's not going away or that it's way worse at night. I also feel like I have slight chills of and on. I just hope it's not cancer that has metastisized.

Our minds jump...........to the worst! I have the same pain off and on. I have indigestion quite a bit and I figure it's probably that, when I feel the ache their. But it could also could be muscle pain as Cuchculan said. Ive had muscle pain there just as well, and if it's tension alot of times acetaminophen or ibuprofen will not help that. Try and relax.

Went to the doctor today. Did a physical examination and didn't really think to seem to think it was muscle related because she couldn't find a tender spot when pressing. She did say it was somewhat of a good sign that it's less severe during the day, but I did have an x-ray and now I have to wait for the results.

Disc maybe? I've messed up a few in my day and it's not fun. I hope you get the results soon.
