I have tried it, and it helped in some ways but actually going to a person is more helpful for me. It became frustrating.

I agree...but it depends on the type of online therapy. You can do face to face, similar to FaceTime. You can choose to write as much as you want and have the therapist answer once a day, although they take two days off a week. Or you can write as much as you want and have the therapist answer you once a week. You get what you pay for. The therapist I had was very good and did seem to help me, but I agree with the above response. It can get frustrating waiting for a reply. It’s not like texting back and forth. Hope that helps.

What did you find frustrating?
So, I had the ability to write out, any time, what I wanted to communicate. The person that is assigned to help you can get back to you when they can... and I was able to receive a phone call from her, after scheduling a time. But, over the computer and over the phone didn't feel much better than googling advice. I think being around an actual person helps the communication process, as it is such a difficult task, but if your therapist can see you, perhaps they can read and understand you more thoroughly (body language, facial expressions, etc.). It's more personal. It's more of a connection.

I tried signing up for online therapy once, but they wanted like $200 a month for it. I’d rather go to my therapist in person and pay a $15 copay instead. Plus getting to talk in person is a lot more beneficial in my opinion.

Nothing like face to face contact. I have been in counseling for about 7 years on and off. Not sure if I could do online therapy.

I've never considered trying online therapy because, since I'm disabled because of my issues with bi-polar disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, I can see a therapist face to face at a nearby community mental health center for no charge to me.

I doubt that online therapy would be as good as face to face therapy, for me anyway. And I want the best possible treatment.

I’ve done some of the video therapy. It’s basically like FaceTime I would do an hour a week. I feel that it was ok, it was $85 a session so I had to stop but it could be helpful I’m sure.
