Hi. I hope this is the right place for this post. I wanted to introduce the community to neurofeedback.
We have had a lot of success treating both anxiety and depression in patients with neurofeedback therapy.
Neurofeedback (also knowns as neurotherapy and EEG biofeedback) has been in use by medical professionals for over 40 years to treat a wide range of neurological disorders. Meaning ‘brain’ and ‘input’, neurofeedback specifically monitors and measures brain wave activity to identify irregularities. Once identified, a signal designed to correct the irregularity is produced and the brain waves are guided back into a healthy pattern. With repetition of this process over time, the brain will learn to stay in healthy ranges without the aid of the computer.
While I understand that many people scoff at non-traditional treatments, there is tremendous clinical support for neurofeedback's efficacy. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics has listed neurofeedback as a 'Level 1 - Best Support' intervention for anxiety and attention problems.
In short, both anxiety and depression are characterized by abnormal brainwave activity in specific areas of the brain. Neurofeedback essentially acts as 'exercise' for the brain and supports the brain in creating new neuropathways. Over time, this process brings the brainwaves back into the normal range and many of the symptoms associated with anxiety and depression can be minimized or even eradicated completely.
Please feel free to check out more info on our site: http://mybraindr.com/
We always encourage people to try a drug-free treatment plan before committing to long-term prescription drugs if at all possible.
