Mind starting to race (A** again)

It’s been over a month of pushing thoughts about a terrible neurological disease out of my mind and I’ve been doing well until now. I went to the chiropractor and told him I felt tight behind my right knee and upper calf. He had me push against his arm with my leg and I felt a pull and pain in my upper hamstring right below my butt. He said my hamstring is really tight and I probably strained it pretty good. This should be end of story but now my mind is racing thinking it’s strained cause my other muscles are weakening and deteriorating due to the three letter word and it put extra strain on my hamstring and that’s why I pulled it! I’ve had the feeling for a few weeks it should have healed? I’m kind of freaking out in my mind.

If the muscles around the hamstring were truly weak, you would be struggling to walk, and definitely would not have been able to push against the chiro with that leg. Try some hamstring stretches and calf raises/stretches, they helped strengthen and stretch my calves and hammies when I was going through this scare with similar issues to you. You'll be ok!

That would be one of the easiest areas to strain. Especially if you are anxious and all tensed up. I would suggest a few exercises by yourself at home. Even a walk or two. To loosen that part of your body up. The odd ice pack for about ten minutes or so. They are probably the area we feel more pain in. Like when we do nothing for a day or two. Then we head out. From doing nothing the area has tightened up. So it will hurt us when used again. Think the one thing to rememberis that it is just part of we go through. Nothing more serious at all.

in terms of ALS, muscle weakness means you literally wouldn't be able to jog up a set of stairs... or push down the gas pedal in your car. if you can do that, you're good!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and replies! Sorry I tend to float in and out, I’ve been trying to not even see the words or anything about it to keep it out of my mind. However now I didn’t even try to notice but when I flex my leg straight the muscles seem to hold for an extra couple seconds or so and then release and relax. Also my big toe seems to point up farther leaving the other toes lower when I try to lift them all up and my foot is like vibrating. When I lift my four non big toes up and relax they also stay elevated for a few seconds. Like are my reflexes messed up? It’s so hard to ignore when your mind ain’t right and it just finds theses things out of nowhere. I’m trying my best to keep calm. Once again apologies for just floating around, I’m really trying my best to take everyone’s advice and reassurances.

You’re absolutely right! Thanks so much for the quick response. This forum has helped get me through the last couple months. After the breakdown, its been back and forth but I truly appreciate every single response!
