Hello all and I hope you're all doing well.
I was wondering what it would be like to be able to not be constantly anxious about health issues and symptoms, do you think it's possible to have the same level of awareness over your body and maybe even do the same habits such as googling and going to the doctor frequently, without having the anxiety attached ?? Like can someone have those habits without hypochondria??

im actually trying to strike that balance right now, and although i think googling is a terrible habit and never leads to good things, i think you definitely can have good awareness of your body if you a) face everything with acceptance, and b) look at things realistically.
the acceptance is the key part of this imo, because if you start experiencing something weird and just think "alright, this is what's happening, i can't change it, so I'll just book a doctor's appointment and wait" then i find whatever ur experiencing has less power over u. MUCH easier said than done, ofc, but it certainly helps me to try to think that way.
also, looking at things realistically helps tamp fears because whatever horrible illness im worrying about is simply one possibility out of hundreds, so it probably isn't what im thinking anyway. these tactics are how im trying to be calm but still aware rn

I think worrying about illnesses that a person might have is normal, but it shouldn't be excessive. I suppose anxiety comes in and it is a symptom of anxiety. The best thing to do is be calmed and focused. Even if a person has illnesses they feared its best to remain calm and explore options.
