Magnesium supplements for anxiety? Can it really help?

I recently saw a tweet from this woman who said that she took magnesium pills and felt relief from anxiety within an hour. She mentioned after taking the supplements, she realized that she stopped thinking about the thoughts that were making her anxious, and when did think about it, it didn't make her feel nervous.

Has anyone ever tried supplements and would you say they were helpful? I'm so inclined to try it now.

I have been taking magnesium for many months now, mainly for heart palpitations not anxiety, and just from my experience I haven't noticed any difference in either. I take about 375 mg a day. If there is a difference it is too subtle for me to notice. Maybe if someone is just stressed out it might make a difference, but not for my anxiety disorder. No harm in trying it though. It may help some people more than others.
