Is Resident Evil ruined, in your opinion?

Games like RE4 and RE8 especially are silly, because merchants can appear in the middle of nowhere, just to sell you things, which isn't true survival horror elements. There is also little ties to the older (and better) games, since they incessantly talk about the Umbrella Corporation a lot, even though they're apparently gone. Also, they have too much action, and some enemy types like that metal man, that living puppet thing, and the vampires, are just weird. :(

As a bonus, I just want to say that Chris Redfield absolutely sucked in RE7. :p

Dude, Resident Evil 4 is considered the best in the series. Do you mean RE5?

But RE4 was the game that took the franchise in a direction, that caused it to eventually go downhill. Maybe other games worsened the issue, but it was definitely RE4 that jump started RE becoming mainly a sci-fi action saga.

Yep. RE5 sucks. 6 does too. 7 is okay, but it does not feel like a RE game besides being in a house. And 8 is a 4 clone, but nowhere as great.

I like the second "Revelations" game, where you play as Barry Burton, the bearded side character from RE1 who helps Jill Valentine.

I have been playing resident evil since i
first got the game for Christmas in 1998 while in high school.
I honestly believe the game has gone down the wrong path.

I only recognize these as real Resident Evil
Games.

Resident Evil 1,2 and 3 PS1
Resident Evil remakes 0,1,2 and 3 Xbox one or GameCube
Resident Evil Code Veronica,Dreamcast
Resident Evil 4 GameCube

If you like the new ones Resident Evil 5-8
Their is nothing wrong with you but in my opinion the series isn't Resident Evil anymore, but an alternative universe of the gaming franchise.

Resident Evil 5 and 6 were just horrible.
I remember taking a few days off work to play both of these and 6 made me turn the game off asap like an hour and half in.
Don't get me started on operation raccoon city.

Resident Evil 4 was ok at best , but the game series is built off survival horror.
There was no part of survival horror about it.
Resident Evil 4 in 2004 was trying to compete with Rainbow 6 type games and lean more towards action and less survival horror.
It had some fun parts to it but not really my cup of tea.
