I finally got my pap results. They were abnormal/LSIL. I am petrified. I don’t know if I have ever had an abnormal one, and if I did, it has been a long, LONG time.
I have a colposcopy tomorrow. I am so scared. I can’t stop crying. I am beyond freaked out.
The nurse for my doctor said it was just a mild abnormality, but I’m am so scared. I dread tomorrow and waiting for more results.

This happened to me a few times in my 20s and it never went beyond the abnormal. I am 47 now and still no issues and normal paps. Did you happen to have sex too soon around the time of your pap? I believe that is what caused mine back then. I wait at least five days now. It will be fine.

I am in my early/mid 40s now. That’s what scares me that this is happening now.
I didn’t have sex before.
I am beyond frightened. I am so anxious about more results and tests I could puke. I dread finding out what my doctor may see tomorrow.

Try not to panic! It might turn out that after your colposcopy you won’t need any further treatment. Take comfort and reassurance that you nurse has confirmed it’s only a mild change. Breathe, you are going to be fine! Remember that xx

I had to have a leep procedure when I was 20 but since then I’ve had no abnormal pap results. If it’s minimal and detected early, it’s not a big deal!

Two of my best friends, both currently 28 years old, have had abnormal pap results (one of them had two abnormals in a row) and they are both fine, nothing ever came of it. They both had what you are having today and everything was clear. It’s very very common to have abnormal paps. Try not to worry to much and take comfort in the fact that it’s common.

Anyone else? Sorry for begging. I’m just so beyond scared
Hey don’t be sorry. We have ALL been there in your shoes, heck I am there now with a different situation as you. I know how it feels to want answers and want people to relate to you so that you know that it is all ok.
And guess what? It’s all going to be ok.

I had an abnormal result, then had a colposcopy and it was normal. My next pap was normal too.
Thank you for sharing that. I don’t think my colposcopy will be normal because my doctor could see a small area of white once he put the solution on. He did say it was small so I’m hopefully it’s a really mild issue and I can get this taken care of as I am petrified. I’m trying to remain hopeful the biopsy brings about good news
How are you?
Not fabulous. I go from being ok to downright panicked and thinking this is what gets me. Praying this is being caught early and for my biopsy results to be ok.

Maybe I missed if you answered this already. Did you get a pap a year ago also? Was this your annual?

Yes, normal last year. This year LSIL. I’m trying to remain hopeful these changes will go away and things will get better. I’m just beyond scared.

I could just imagine how you’re feeling. I would find it hard to rationalize it too. However, cervical cancer is slow growing and if you get your annual pap every year, the change in cells is usually caught before it even becomes that. My mom told me she had an abnormal pap when she was younger. It never happened again. I also know someone who got 5+ abnormal paps, and got some kind of procedure done and now all her paps are normal. Nothing ever turned cancerous. Keep us updated!

Thank you! My doctor is very good and I have high hopes we are on top of this, and this may be a bumpy journey, but in the end it will be ok. I’m really trying to have some form of positivity. I’m obviously an anxious mess, but you’ve given me some deep hope. Thank you

Hi! Just checking in to see how everything went?
I'm 35 years old and have had multiple abnormal paps and 2 colposcopies. So far, everything has come out benign for me. But I'm due for another pap smear and always have the abnormal result looming over my head. I know exactly what you are going through.

Hi!
I’m sorry you face this as well. My colposcopy showed LSIL just as my pap did. I’m slated for a repeat pap in a few months. I’m so scared. I just keep hoping and praying I clear this. I’m so scared. Thankfully it is very mild changes thus far, but I’m just beyond scared to have my next pap.
