Hi guys.

It might be random for anyone on this forum to find a 15yr old writing about his health insecurities but here I go.
  • When I get headaches, I immediately start relating them to brain tumors or other major brain illnesses.
  • My breathing and heartbeat increase drastically and I start thinking that I'm gonna suffer a heart attack.
  • I never trust one doctor diagnose, I have to visit various doctors to feel secure about whatever I've been told I have, otherwise I fall into panic.
Do you guys agree with any of these, and please feel free to drop yours. The fact that I found this forum makes me really happy because I feel I'm not alone.

Hi spanishguy,

You are certainly not alone! I am concerned for you, not because you have some dreaded illness, but because you are showing all the signs of health anxiety at age 15. My first real HA attack came at age 35 and it seems like it's been forever with me.

If possible, you should try to get counseling now, and get a handle on why your irrational thoughts are affecting you. There are techniques and if necessary medications that can help.

Trust me, if you can nip this type of anxiety in the bud now, you'll be a much happier adult later on.

Thanks so much for answering, I will take note on the counseling thing. :)

SpanishGuy, psychotherapy and medications have helped lots of people with health anxiety like you.

I'm glad your thinking about going into counseling. It's better to get help now instead of waiting for years to get help.
