In your opinion, how well do they pave the roads in your area?

I'm originally from Rhode Island, United States. And back in the 1980's, when I lived there, the roads in general were in bad shape. Many of their roads needed to be paved for a long time. And it's still like that in Rhode Island, in my opinion.

But here in Maine, United States, even in the real rural, remote parts, I think they generally do a good job at paving the roads in order to keep them in good condition.

Its okay here in Britain, i suppose they do their jobs. I can see they can do it inaccurately. I would say a 7 out of 10.

The back road that I live near here in rural Maine is in better shape than parts of route 95 is in Rhode Island, oddly enough.

Heck the footpaths are very bad. They plant big trees. In time the roots of the trees push the pavement upwards. People have falls. Claims go in. as for the roads? They actually once said that dirt roads in Africa were better than Irish roads. Pot holes and the likes. Used to cycle a lot. You would have to break hard to move forward outwards on the road to miss a hole in the road. They have been working on them over the past year. Cheaper to fix them than keep paying out claims.

Tennessee, United States, here. The roads are pretty awful in some place, while in other places they're rather smooth and comfortable. It really depends on where you go. Back roads / small town roads tend to be much worse, although the interstate highways are sometimes also pretty terrible when they're doing construction - which is a very common sight.

When out today I wished I had of brought a camera to take a picture of parts of the road. Just large chunks missing. Imagine yourself on a bike and coming towards that? You are forced out further into the middle of the road.
