How about a good news thread?

Many with our conditions have a tendency to focus on the negative. We all know this.
How about a thread for good news? Our successes each day, or whenever we have something good? I think it would be a great way to give hope, and for others to see how we have done things to get beyond anxious times.

I recently received a decent annual raise and at the same time decided to refinance our home and save $220/mo! We moved in here less than a year ago. That's a good chunk of money that go toward savings, taking care of the fam, etc.

Since the school closings are going on in my state, I will have my little boy tomorrow through Thursday, so that’s a really good thing for me. I’m happy about it!
Cool! The schools here closed for this week, then they have spring break the week after next. Our 5yr old is always home with me (starts school in Aug) because I work from home. Which is great, because daycare is crazy expensive!

My employer has selected me and few others to possibly start working from home!! There are many details/logistics to work out but I am glad they are at least considering it because I didn’t think it was possible.

That’s also great news! My sister is a teacher, and starting Wednesday, she will also be working from home. While I know some people need a break from home during the day... many of us don’t get a nice opportunity to see our loved ones, or just relax during much of the day.
I was anxious this morning about going out, driving is difficult for me sometimes. I managed to use my own logic of “what REALLY is going to happen?” What happened? Absolutely nothing! Anticipating is ALWAYS worse than reality.

Nice! What do you do for work, that made you think it wasn't possible? I'm a software engineer and I've been full time remote since October 2017. And at this point there's nothing anyone can say to make me want to go back to an office, even a few days a week. Haha. There are some cons, but the pros far outweigh them, such as:

1) No commute! Because the commute to Nashville every day is AWFUL, to say the least.

2) I'm home when the kids are home, or when they get home from school. Not only do I see them a lot more, but also...child care is crazy expensive, so none of that!

3) I have more time to get things done, like running errands on a lunch break.

4) I CAN EAT WHENEVER I WANT! :p

I work in the billing office of medical practice. Our specialty isn’t one of necessity so we could shut our offices down. The reason I wasn’t certain about working from home...my company is kinda disorganized and does things on the fly plus communication from the top isn’t great. The way the work is distributed is a bit of a challenge.
I am in the suburbs so my commute isn’t horrible but I am not crazy about the location of my office nor do I care much for socializing with my co-workers. I don’t actively dislike them but I don’t have any interest in their company either. I am easily distracted at work and uncomfortable as well so working from home will help that and I believe lessen my anxiety some.

Today I was volunteering at the food pantry. And one of the patrons there thanked me for volunteering my time to help out with the pantry and the community.

That was nice of her to tell me that.

So that's my good news comment of the day for this thread.

I think having a good news thread is a fine idea, Guitarist 41!

It’s excellent to give and not expect to receive. That was a very good thing to do

I work at a distribution center so my job would be impossible to do from home. but that’s okay it keeps me busy and active. my commute isn’t even bad either lol we are actually busy right now since we supply a lot of medical products and face masks and respirators and gloves. all that jazz it’s been crazy so we are working OT everyday which is nice for my paycheck! and also i just got my annual raise and review and it was a good percentage so that’s good news coming from me!

The FDA approved a rapid COVID-19 test made by my company, which was really good news. For whatever reason, the stock market still sold us like crazy and dropped the share price by a ton, but then so did everyone else's. The company qualifies under the Essential Goods and Services exception, which is nice because it allows me to get out of my family's hair if its necessary (or if I need to do work I can only get done there). There's quite a bit I can do remotely though, so I expect I'll be able to stay home more days than not.

Those of us who suffer with anxiety know the best way to help it pass is by staying productive. I am very grateful that although I have been having a hard time sleeping, I am able to work, the nature of my work is to assist the needy in my community. It has been incredible seeing the outpouring of hundreds of volunteers willing to do whatever it takes to help those in need. I am seeing some really beautiful aspects of humanity shine forth. It should never have to be under these circumstances, but it sure is incredible to see humanity come together like this rather than fractured over silly politics.
