Dust allergy

I've never suffered as bad as I am this year. I deep cleaned behind my couch this week (the dust was embarrassingly bad!) oh my the sneezing and wheezing was terrible! But now I'm noticing my nose and throat become incredibly itchy if I lie on my couch. I had to take an antihistamine yesterday I was so wheezy. I'm guessing it's a dust mite allergy. I'm wondering if that's what's been giving me episodes of hives the past year. I've been waking up with a blocked nose that clears after an hour. Also we do have a little cat now. I've grown up with cats and never had a problem. She can be around me all day, rubbing my face and no reaction at all but I'm so worried it might be contributing to all this sneezing and stuffy nose. She's my little baby I couldn't bare parting with her! I've been out this morning to buy a fancy carpet cleaner so hoping that will help with the dust if I deep clean the couch. Also looking into anti allergy bedding. I've been imagining having to part with her all morning and it's making me so sad! I do believe it's dust mites more than her through.

Does anyone else suffer from dust/dander allergies? Any advice? I'm trying not to let my symptoms set off my anxiety because the wheezing is tempting my nerves!!

I suffer from hay fever in spring time. I also have cats and one of them makes me sneeze but only during hay fever season. Dust will make me sneeze around this time as well. I don’t take antihistamines as they don’t work for me. I get a nasal spray called Rhinocort. Its designed to use everyday and when I take it my hayfever disappears

Brill thanks I've found a UK equivalent to that! I've never suffered from allergies before but this is not nice. I've got quite a bad sinus headache today too. I put the Xmas tree up last night and we use a snow spray, the dust, spray scent has just made me a sneezing, snotty, itchy, headache mess today! We've had a very cold week here so the heating has been on so the air in the house is dry too. Bleugh it's horrible. So you can co exist with a car if it is a slight allergy? I'm really hoping it's not her!!

You can get cushion covers for the couch that might help. Try to find one that’s been certified by a reputable allergy and asthma foundation/association. Dust mite covers for pillows and mattress also help a lot.

I do. Currently trying to work up the courage to take an antihistamine. I’m worried my heart will race. I’ve been wheezing like crazy lately, I think I’m allergic to my dog, and I know I’m allergic to dust. I have one of those hepa filter machines, but honestly I don’t think it makes much of a difference.
