Hello everybody.

I am a disabled man in his 40s who suffers from social and general anxiety. I currently take propranolol to help with my anxiety but im really finding its not helping to control my anxiety over taking lessons to drive. I really need to drive because i can not rely on public transport to arrive on time and i dont feel safe around people when i do have to use it. Public transport is totally useless for me so unless i start to drive im not going to be able to get out of the house. Has anyone else gone through this same problem and could you give an idea of any medication that will work better than propranolol that i can possibly speak to my doctor about. I have had this problem with driving lessons hanging over my head for many years and now the time has come that i have to face facts and drive. When i was younger it was financial reasons that stopped me but now i can afford them its anxiety thats preventing me. Ive tried all kinds of herbal medications like Rescue Remedy, Kalms Herbal Anxiety tablets and various others and all of them never helped me or they gave me unpleasent side effects. I have found some driving instructors that suppost to teach people with disabilities such as myself but i dont know how good or reliable they are with people who suffer with serious anxiety. I know i have to speak to my doctor and i will do but if anyone can offer any further advice it would greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

the only thing I can think to tell you is not to worry about being a bad driver. no matter how bad you are there has got to be somebody worse. You should see the things morons do on the road.
