Hi. I've dealt with Generalized anxiety for decades that hovers into health anxiety from time to time. A couple days ago I caught a bug and am trying to deal with it by eating bland food and drinking lots of water. Even after discussing this with an online doctor, who told me that I'm doing everything right, I'm still letting my mind bring the negativity. This certainly isn't the first time I've been under the weather, yet I can feel the anxiety "knocking at the door". I know this is a common ailment, and was wondering what you find folks do to keep your mind settled when these things arise :)

I don't know if you're a big reader, but getting stuck into a good book usually helps to shift my focus away from whatever sensations I'm feeling. A good movie, tv show, puzzle, calling family or friends are also nice. Exercise helps sometimes too but I wouldn't suggest that if you're feeling under the weather :) If you knit or crochet that can be really nice, especially if you have something on in the background, occupies your mind and your hands! Hope you feel better soon!

I appreciate your reply :) Your suggestions are right up my alley For the past couple days I have been distracting myself with games, TV, and my crossword puzzles. I've learned throughout the years that keeping my mind active to keep anxiety away in other situations helps, so I need to apply these hobbies now as well. Thanks again!
