Constipation worry

Hey everyone, I've had some constipation for a few days now. I've taken 3 stool Softeners in a 24 hr time period and still nothing. I feel like I need to go but nothing will happen. I'm so uncomfortable and I just want to go, I've tried eating more fiber, walking and drinking water. I'm just worried is something more, I really don't think it is but you know health anxiety plays a number on me. For the record I'm pretty regular and never really ever get constipated. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!!!

Hi, I've suffered from chronic constipation all my life. It's very common for me to go a week between movements so don't worry nothing sinister will happen. Tmi but if you are passing gas still then it is not a bowel obstruction. To get things moving it's better to use a laxative than a softener. I'm in the UK so not sure if you're US and we have different brand medicines but fybrogel or dulcolax are the best OTC here. There are also some good stomach massages you can do if you look up on Google. It just helps move things along. If I get stressed and focus on how long it's been it definitely makes it worse for me! For me personally now instead of using medication I will eat raw. A 100g portion of sugar snap peas raw just munched throughout the day, with a couple apples and a punnet of raspberries will make me go by the next day.

It may possibly take somewhat more of the time before the stool softeners work. If you are still stuck, then you might want to seek help from a healthcare provider because you’ve been doing all the right things. They can give some suggestions and see whether there are any other issues which may exist. Hang in there!

Thanks everyone, I finally did end up going later that day. Now all that's happening is I'm just passing gas while I'm trying to go.

For next time.. I would recommend an enema. I did it when I didn't have a bowel movement for 5 days and it helped.

Smooth Move tea with Senna by Traditional Medicinals (usually available in grocery stores or natural food markets in the US) worked for me. One cup at bedtime and things will move in the morning.
