Calming Myself Down With Slow Music And Soft Sounds Not For Me

Many with anxiety issues find meditating while listening to slow music or listening to soft sounds (such as hearing a CD with soothing sounds of nature, for example) as a way of calming themselves down. Also, lots of nervous people find it calming to listen to soft music or soft sounds on their radio or stereo as they go about their day. It really can calm then down.

However, I don't like listening to soft rock music or listening to soothing sounds. Instead, I like modern dance music, hip hop, and sometimes heavy metal. As a result, listening to soft music or soft sounds isn't therapeutic for me. It's too dull and boring for me.

Anyone else have this problem? And if so, what other ways are there that calm you down better?

I like to listen to pop and honestly line dances. Not country, but the wobble and things like that. I LOVE it and makes me feel so much better

Pink Floyd does it for me. Also like Jack Johnson. He has a lot of good music that you can relax to. Had never even heard of him till a good friend put me onto his music and now I have all his albums.

For me, if I feel a panic attack/anxiety coming on... I do deep breathing. I tell myself, you have felt this before and nothing happen. I can speak for myself but I bring on unnecessary anxiety. Sometime I can feel my heart skipping a beat or I feel it is not beating as I think it should be and that use to bring on so much anxiety. But now, I tell myself, you have felt this many times and nothing happen so you will be alright. That has helped me soooo much.
