Hello! I am new here and hope to get some help because my anxiety is out of control. I had an urethral calibration/dilatation last Sunday. I was told it is light procedure but it was not, I had severe pain and bleeding afterwards. I took medication and I was fine for 2 days but now I have pain back there, pain in one of my kidneys and I am freaking out that due to the dilatation I had an infection affecting my kidneys. My doctor told me to took one more dose of the same medication but it has so many side effects...And the biggest problem is that I don't know when go to the ER and when to wait because 'it's all in my head'. How do you cope with such situations and what would you advise me? Thank you

You should contact your doctor and follow their advice.

Yes, contact the doctor that did the procedure angain, and if they told you to take the medication then do follow their advice. Not taking the medication can be worse than any side effects it MIGHT cause, they are experts trained to asses the risk/benefit of any prescribed treatment. The doctor should be the one to assess your symptoms and advise you on whether going to the ER would be necessary.
