Does anyone know their family ancesty? I've always been interested in history and how I got to be where I am now. I am a variety of European heritages with ancestors from France, Germany, Scotland, and Ireland. I have trace amounts of Native American, too.

My brother and I have traced our dad's side all the way back to 15th Century England. I forget which region, without having it in front of me. Really cool stuff! We have some Russian and I think some German as well. We haven't been able to find much on mom's side, she's even in the dark as much as we are, unfortunately.

Have done one side of the family back a few hundred years. Just to explain. We had the record's office burn down here in Ireland in the early 1900's. So a lot of records were destroyed. My mother's side of the family was the side we managed to do. Not easy at all. Lot of hard work. Lot of them were buried in pauper's graves. So the graves no longer exist. We knew the general area of the graveyard they were buried in. Pauper's graves are kept for so many years. If the family make no payment the graves can be sold again. Found a lot of very young people who had died in the family. Which was common back then. Lot of surnames to get through as people got married. Then they had kids. Those kids would marry. Females surname would change again. Nothing but Irish people here. Considering I am in Ireland, I would expect nothing less.

My mother was Sioux and part Mexican.
My dad and family are from Mexico, but part of our family comes from Italy that landed in Mexico, so my great grandfather.
Proud to be an American!

Three quarters Scottish (Borders), one quarter English (Manchester). I suspect my gran was descended from Border reivers.

After I got back my Ancestry DNA results, I learned my specific genetic composition:

48% England and NW Europe
30% Scotland
9 % Ireland
8% Sweden
4% Wales
1% Poland and Eastern Europe

I wasn’t too surprised by the heavy amount of heritage from the UK and Ireland. My family has reliable and detailed documentation of it.

It looks like some of my earliest ancestors whom I formally thought were French and German were actually immigrants from Scandinavia and Poland at first.

I've been thinking about doing one of these. So far I believe I'm 75% Scottish and 25% English.

I did do a DNA test a while. Came back with something like 90% Scotland, 7% English, 3% Irish. I was a bit surprised by how small the English was, thought that there'd be more tbh.
