Well, I haven’t gotten *too* scared of Coronavirus, yet. However, I’m starting to get worried now. For the past year or so my fingernails get blue when I’m cold, then when I warm them up they go back to normal. Well I was stupid and looked it up today, it has to do not getting enough oxygen. Well, Coronavirus related death here I come if that’s the case. You would think I’d be more freaked out about that, however, I’m not. I’m more scared because I saw how HIV may cause this. It was only 1 article that said it but enough to catch my attention, I could literally feel my stomach turn. My first thought was that I may have HIV, which if I do I would have contracted it about 3 years ago after being sexually assaulted. I’m just so scared, HIV is my worst fear besides cancer.

My fingernails turn blue a lot even when I even feel hot. It’s totally normal but it freaks me out to even though I know It’s fine. I’m very body sensitive and my anxiety gets triggered by this kind of stuff so I totally understand. If I were you I would get tested for the HIV if you are worried about it from past situations. I think it would benefit you mentally as well if you did. But your fingernails being blue is most likely caused by something super normal! I wouldn’t worry!

I know someone who has something called Raynaud's disease -- it sounds a little similar to what you're describing? It does not affect that person's daily life, but it was a cause of some concern and curiosity for a while until it was diagnosed. I'm not saying that's the cause of your blue fingernails, but I suppose it's one possibility. I apologize if this only piles on to your anxiety, but I figure you'd prefer that over HIV, if it has to be anything at all.

My sister in law has Reynaud's. She gets it particularly in her hands, with patches of blanched skin and blue fingernails. She finds it annoying more than anything else - plus she's a nurse and her hands apparently feel icy cold to her patients which isn't what she wants! Its not constant fortunately.
