I am almost at two years sober. Had many stumbles before this stretch. Just start again.

Alcohol is most popular antianxiety med.

I think it is fine to drink to cope with anxiety. But not to drink too much
Nooooooo. Please do not take this advice. Do not self medicate! Been sober 6 years now and it gets easier. You might fall off the wagon once or twice but just wake up the next day and tell yourself you aren’t drinking that day. Don’t even worry about tomorrow. Just get through today

I drink more to cope with my anxiety.
And there lies the problem. I remember when I had depression due to GAD. I went to the pub and had a couple of pints. I felt so much better after. WOW!!! I have found the answer to depression!! The next morning I felt awful, so went and drank more which once again gave me short term release. But I knew someone who was a drinker who went to AA, and he told me to stop now before it was too late.
I did! Alcohol is a depressant, but not at the time of drinking. It's raises so many false hopes. We can all enjoy a glass of wine now and then, but to use it as a solution to anxiety is dangerous.
