Anxiety over forehead vein

just recently I realised that I’m actually a hypochondriac. I’ll be seeing a counsellor for the first time tomorrow to discuss my anxiety and panic attacks. My sister registered me on here the other day and said it would really help me so this is my first post.

The other day I saw a faint line across my forehead and then quickly placed a hot compress on which made the line even more prominent. I’m now upset that I did this as it’s become more prominent and I believe it’s a vein bulging out. Surely a hot compress cant cause a vein to bulge out, I don’t even know? I went straight on line to google forehead veins and I’m convinced what I’m seeing is a vein. I’m scared that it won’t revert back to normal, I’m scared it won’t heal as Its some type of vein. I keep taking pictures comparing how it was before and I’m so upset with myself. Does anyone know if this will go back to normal. I’ve uploaded a picture. The photo that’s marked green is how it looks currently, it’s much deeper and darker. The other two pictures in the collage is how it looked before, when it wasn’t so noticeable. IMG_2074.jpg

Hii, i can understand where you're coming from as I have huge vein anxiety.
I'm not sure if its a vein on your forehead, because wouldn't it be blue? It almost looks like a bump. If it is a vein, its harmless. Veins do become prominent due to heat, when its really hot my veins become super visible. But it should eventually settle back down, don't worry.

Hi lari

Thank you so much for your message. That’s made me feel better today. Really glad I came on here. I was thinking to place a cold ice pack on there what do you think? Or should I just leave it completely

I'm glad i made you feel better :)
I think its best to just leave it, the vein should go down quicker the less you interfere with the area

Heat causes veins to pop out more. When we workout, the muscles get hot and the veins come to the surface. There’s no issue with this to be concerned over. You could try a cold compress, or just use this as an opportunity to learn to shift your focus to something else. Read about something unrelated to anxiety. Read about cars, or music, or something that you really enjoy.

Hey thanks for your reply. A friend of mine also suggested a cold compress too. But I think I’ll take the latter advice and shift my focus to something else and hopefully it just goes back to Normal. Thank you and have a lovely evening

Can’t really sleep as I’m anxious about this vein. I also realised yesterday all these other veins have come to the surface that weren’t previously noticeable. I know I should really be taking my mind off this but just can’t help it. I read somewhere that once these veins come to the surface very rarely do they go away. I might try the cold compress to see if this helps

I have pale skin so whenever I get over hot you can definitely see a nice purple one. Honestly, that's probably a good thing right? Means your circulation is working well.
