So last night around 6 PM I started having this pain in the very lowest part of my right abdomen. Ladies, you know how sometimes when it's that time of the month, your ovaries hurt? The pain was mostly coming from that same spot, only it was radiating upward and only on the right side instead of both sides. The pain was very bothersome. It caused me to sweat a little. I took a combination of tylenol and ibuprofen (my go-to for bad pain) as well as some simethicone (which is for gas, acid, bloating, etc) and none of it helped at all. If anything, the pain got worse. I was excercising and doing some stuff around the house, and eventually I just had to stop and sit down because it hurt too much. I thought resting would help, but it didn't. I sat on the couch and tried to watch TV, but I was still very uncomfortable. Eventually I turned off the TV show and just panicked instead. Not long after, quite a lot of air started to come out of both ends, if you know what I mean (Sorry, I know that's gross, but it's an important detail!). I immediately felt totally better and went to bed. In the middle of the night I woke up because the dog was barking, and I noticed that the pain was back, although it hurt much less than it had earlier that evening. The pain was very minimal, and if I hadn't been trying to sleep I probably would've barely noticed it. I also noticed that it was radiating higher than it had before, almost to the bottom of my ribs. I had a little bit of trouble getting back to sleep/getting comfortable because of it, but it wasn't too bad. I noticed it felt a bit better if I layed on my left side. It is now 1 PM the next day, and the pain has remained the same- a constant dull ache in my lower right abdomen, coming from the very bottom of my abdomen, with a feeling of discomfort too. Sometimes it radiates a little to my thigh and back. It's difficult to be at ease feeling like this. It's the kind of pain where I know that if increased, it would be agonizing. It hasn't gone away since it started up again in the middle of the night. I have no other symptoms so far. No nausea or anything like that. I checked for rebound tenderness and there wasn't any.

I'm just so scared that it's appendicitis and I'll have to go to the hospital. My biggest fear is that I'll end up in the hospital all alone, isolated from family, with needles stuck in me (HUGE needle phobia here) and having to get surgery, my biggest fear of all. I'm so scared about this that I could cry.

One time I was in the emergency room with my wife as she was having pain from an ovarian cyst there was a lady on the ground in agony that they rushed in later I asked the doctor what she heard he told me appendicitis all I can say is seen the way she was acting she will not be able to type anything on a computer at home she was literally on the ground and they had to give her morphine

It is something to keep an eye on. I am used to pains in the past from Acid Reflux. No idea if you ever suffered from that? It can cause such pains. I always said it felt liked trapped wind / gas. The pains could get bad at times. You found a spot to relax in and the pain lessened. Much the same area. Just under the ribs. I am no doctor either. I used to give it a day or two. Most times it passed. Odd time it might stay for another day.

With anything really serious, as said above, the pain would be so bad, you would not be able to do much. Had that with the burst ulcer. Just keeled over the pain was that bad. That is how you know when things are bad.

But keep an eye on it. See how it plays out.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Yesterday not long after I posted this I ended up going for a long walk, and the pain actually disappeared completely for the rest of the day. I thought I was all better and stopped worrying about it, but then the pain woke me up at 5 AM this morning. It was pretty painful and I couldn't go back to sleep. Again, I layed on my left side and it felt much better, just sore and with some discomfort there. Still couldn't go back to sleep, but it was tolerable that way. The pain has remained ever since, although it's mild (for now). Ever since the pain returned in the middle of the night, I've been scared again.
Also, no, I've never had acid reflux.

If it was what you first thought it was it would be lower down. Fact that is seems to be higher up is a good thing. Not sure of you were doing anything the day before you first got the pain? That might have caused the pain to come on. These things can even happen as we sleep. If we turn the wrong way it can hurt at times. That is why it is hard to put on a guess on pain and what causes it. Because so many different things can cause pain. If we stretch for something up high even. More pain. Again I would give it a few days. See how things play out. Anything serious always has nausea with it. Been there a few times. If you feel it getting any worse there is no harm in asking at a chemist what they think you should do. They are like free doctors. They know their stuff. Might even tell you it is best to visit a doctor. But let us three days. Once it does not get any worse. If it does get worse maybe consult somebody. Be it your mother first. Then take it from there.

Here's what ended up happening: My mom ended up making an over the phone doctors appointment for me last Tuesday. The doctor I talked to made it seem like it was appendicitis for sure and was going on and on about how I needed to get to the ER before my appendix burst. I was scared to death of going to the hospital, so I told her I didn't think it was appendicitis and didn't need to do that. In the end she told me to go and make an appointment for an ultrasound for another day. However, right after I hung up she went and called my mom and convinced her to take me to the ER. So, my mom took me to urgent care (not ER) even though I begged her not to take me because I was so scared. The urgent care doctor didn’t think it was appendicitis and had me get an appointment for an ultrasound the next day. The ultrasound showed nothing wrong, except for a cyst I already knew about. As for the pain, it disappeared when I was in urgent care and never came back.

And that's the end of my story, for now. I still don't know what was causing that pain.

I thought I had appendicitis once. I was filled with farts.
