So my dog recently got sick! Half his little face went paralyzed! And he has hypothyroidism. He has good and bad days. Every since then my anxiety has been off the chart! Then all of sudden last night I thought about our incident with that sick animal almost 5 months ago! It was a ground hog and it couldn't walk right and was really sick looking. I took a sick and kept poking at it till it went in the field away from my home. Found it dead in road next morning. Every since then I've had it in back of my head that what if it had rabies! I didn't get bit and neither did my dog! But can u get rabies from it some other way!? Idk I looked it up and it said it can take months for symptoms to show then it's to late to get help! I guess that's what's freaking me out. I don't think I got it's saliva on me anywhere! I wish I never would of even went near it and I wouldn't be having this fear of it. I've never even thought about rabies before my anxiety came back! This is crazy! I feel like I'ma lose my mind!!!!! Why do I think like this!

No won't be rabies at all. Just you've had a worrying event with a poorly pet so you're anxious and you're brain is trying to rationalise the fear and coming up with (unhelpful) solutions.

Only transmitted through saliva. No other way. The rabies fear was by far my worst anxiety bout.

Yeah idk why I'm worried about it. I ran into a groundhog that was acting funny doing circles and back legs not working right. It did try and run from me tho even tho it was slow! I eventually chased it into the field with a stick but it didn't bite me or anything. Just scary thinking it had rabies. I doubt it's saliva got on me anywhere. It didn't even try to bite at me. I need to stop thinking about it.

It set in for me when I was dragging a deer out of a field with a few friends while hunting. They all drank water when we got to the truck. I wasn't thirsty. Solidified in my mind over the next few hours. Posted and commented on here like a madman. Wish I had advice, I just had to struggle with it until the fear eventually abated

I also have been through the rabies phobia....and it is rough. Like Gooze said I think we have to persevere through it. We all hope for a magic snap of the fingers and it can be gone. Sometimes we are allowed to go through struggles for a big recovery. I do certainly believe God can and does provides miracles, however I also believe we go through trials to strengthen.
