So after yesterday’s post I calmed down a little as your all amazing and help me see logically and then bam I woke up in the night petrified. So many thoughts running through my mind. I looked up liver cancer symptoms (I no I no) I have none at all!!! And apparently cancer rarely starts in the liver!!! I’ve had so many bloods and nothing has come back of concern to the gp. I keep saying to myself the doc wouldn’t of said it was benign if it wasn’t and just because he said it’s benign doesn’t mean it’s a tumour or anything it’s a medical word they use!! I’m m a mess inside and I’m trying to not be on the outward as my partner gets upset with me cause he says I overreact to everything (it’s probably true)

If you aren’t in therapy, you really need to go. There is help available. I recognize where you are, been there. But you can get better if you try to help yourself a little. No reason to stay in this condition, recovery is possible.

I’ve been in therapy and honesty am a lot better than I once was! It’s the thoughts that pop into my head and literally petrified me. Unfortunately I don’t get reassured any more even by medical professionals I just hold into the one thing that could be

Try the acceptance method of self help. “It’s Only Anxiety”. On Amazon for $11 plus shipping. It has literally changed my life. I also do relaxation meditation daily. It’s worth a try.

Another good book is by Dr. Claire Weekes, sadly no longer with us. 'Essential help for your Nerves' available from Amazon. The night thoughts when we wake up suddenly are caused by the shock of waking up with acute anxiety. The thoughts come like a herd of wild elephants, and they are mostly negative. The shock of sudden awakening can add to the already existing anxiety. Everyone needs time to adjust to being awake. Let the thoughts come. No fighting or struggling with them. It's your reaction to the thoughts that 'petrify' you. They are only thoughts. The results of a tired mind.
Deep breaths and total acceptance will calm your mind if only a little at first.
Yes, I know, not easy, but it can be done given the will. Nothing is easy in anxiety, and if we expect it to be we will be very disappointed.

The book by Carl James is actually based on the work of Dr. Weeks.

The book I mentioned is actually based on the work of Dr Weekes. The author gives credit to Dr Weeks. I think he has broken down her work into a guide along with his own experience of having anxiety.

The original books by Dr. Weekes came out in the 1970's. Since then she made many recordings. I found her voice so soothing because she puts the facts in plain words that all can understand. 'Face, accept, float and let time pass'. She never suggests any of this is easy. On the contrary, she always said that will and perseverance are necessary, and time. Letting time pass is so difficult for an anxiety sufferer. It just seems to go on and on. But slowly, almost imperceptibly, it does improve if we follow her advice.
