I am joining this site because, having been on another, which shall be nameless, since 2013 I have become very sad about the way it has gone. Some of you may already know what site I mean. When I joined it was an outgoing and vibrant site, which has now become a 'one liner' answering service.
I have posted 4.888 posts on that site since I joined. A lot of the problem has been the lack of reliability. The site went off air many times a few years ago, but has been better since. But the last thing anxiety sufferers want is unreliability.
My background is one of counselling. I am retired now, but decided that when I did retire I would still help on an anxiety site, which I did. I do know about anxiety having been there, and it was what precipitated me into giving up my job and training in counselling. There is always a silver lining in any dark cloud. Anyway, thanks for having me, and I look forward to maybe being of help. Take care all. John.

Hello and welcome! I have definitely tried to participate in one or two other forums and found more of a cold shoulder than anything, save a few friendlies. This forum is full of positive feedback and a great support system! Glad you joined!

Hi…I am on several other forums as well and, one in particular, has a less than friendly vibe for anyone who isn’t a long time poster in my opinion. This board is a much more friendly place and I have found more support and interesting discussions here.

Hi. Bobnat. WELL!!!! Now that's a surprise. You won't be the only one from that site who I will find elsewhere. Thanks for the reply.
Things have not been right there for some time, and an indifference has crept in. Very sad! Best wishes. John.

Hi, Jonathan! Nice to have you on this board as well. I'm sure you know me from over there, right? :D Hope you're doing well. I agree the other place is rather dead these days, and is not very helpful overall. Here, however, we have a lot of pretty good discussion about our experiences, and I think you'll enjoy it. I also think a lot of folks here will be appreciative of your typical, well thought out posts. :)

Hi. bin. Another escapee!! I do agree with you, the other site is getting to the point where there seems to be no purpose any more. The life seems to have gone out of it. It's mostly one liners with very little substance. What I have seen on here so far is good. It's not a question of leaving a sinking ship, there is some life left there, but it does seem to have become rather negative. Good you see you on here.

I, too, have been on the other site and I find this one so much more helpful. Always appreciated your wisdom and thoughtful responses on there, though. :)

Didn't that site break off from another one years ago?

Hi. Aries. No, I don't think so. It was founded in 1012 by a lovely lady who had gone through the mill of anxiety, and she had many helpers. It was one one of the best sites then. Sadly, over the years, and with so many times closing down, it has become a site that is not at all what it was. Anxiety websites, above all else, must have continuity. To suddenly find you can no longer get on it, and for days at a time, or even on one occasion, a week, is not good. The present owners do seem to have kept it going.
This site has life in it, and there is far less moaning about medication and symptoms. That's fine, and talking our problems through is so important, of course it's what it's all about, but there needs to be constructive help as well.

Originally that site did break off from Anxiety Zone. The original owner and her old staff were all banned from Anxiety Zone back in the day. Things come full circle. As the current owner of the site also now owns the Anxiety Zone domain name. Never done anything with it though. Said she was going to merge that site and anxiety space into one site. Which never happened. ( As she owns both sites ) Anxiety space has even less posting than anxiety central does.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware of all that. Prior to going on that site I had no cause to go on any site. But at the time it seemed OK. No matter what site it is we are all here to help each other through, what can be very difficult times. That's it isn't it? We may come on for a variety of reasons, mostly reassurance, because with anxiety we can feel alone and cut off from our fellow beings. Sites like this are a godsend to a sufferer. We can open up without fearing ridicule or disbelief.

What is the other site you all are talking about? The lovely young lady your speak of that started it, wouldn't happen to be "Beth" from anxiety zone would it?

Speaking of old sites, is there anyone here who was active on Melissa's board (from Aimoo) from way back and/or Ian's site? Both of these dealt primarily with hypochondria.

Total Eclipse is the owner of both anxiety space and anxiety central. Also owns the domain name of anxiety zone. Back in the anxiety zone days it was owned by Grey Goose. Was a great one for banning people including his own mods. :p If I remember correctly Teeps and Gilly broke away from anxiety zone and took a lot of members with them. Think her name was Teeps. Not positive on that one. From Australia. Owner of anxiety zone even censored her name. You wrote it and Pineapple would come up instead of it. :p I would have been a Mod at anxiety zone at that time. I do laugh about it all now. So silly.

I think the criticism will help improve AC and AS be a better and more supportive site. I don't see why more than 1 anxiety forum can't exist. It's wonderful people are finding more than one place to be of support. :) Each site has something to value of each person. This thread confuses the conflict from AnxietyZone and the spin off of www.anxiety-central.com and the site Anxiety Space. There were some health reasons of why AC and AS haven't been merged yet but this isn't the right spot to talk about that. My overall take is this site is wonderful as there can never be enough resources for anxiety support. Janathan123's posts are well valued and appreciated everyplace I've seen him post. I have never seen anyone beg to differ.
