When my husband was sent to London for work assignment, he suffered extreme melancholia that resulted in the anxiety attacks. Even a simple cough, he would imagine to be catastrophic that he would want a checkup (although he never actually pursued it). When he woke up one night with an itchy skin brought about by the cold weather, he would scratch his legs and thighs until the skin turned red and later on would be sore. In the morning, the red marks of his scratches would scare him. His anxiety would effect difficulty in breathing and the anxiety would successfully emerge. It's a good thing that his companions at work and in the apartment would never fail to give him moral support and advice for they know that my husband had anxiety attacks only.
