HI,

sorry for this long fear rant lol

I have had diabetes for years. I changed meds at beginning of the year to metformin and immediately lost like 10 lbs. Also stopped Lexapro at about the same time. Well fast forward 10 months and I've been losing a little more weight lately among other symptoms like fullness feeling in the upper chest. I have been trying to cut a lot of carbs out of my diet the past couple of weeks. I saw my dr last week she didn't seem concerned about the weight although every 3 months when I see her it is a bit lower than the last time so there is definitely a trend. She said it's probably what I'm eating. She did find a lump in the left base of my throat. I have an ultrasound Monday. I'm more scared about the weight than the lump. I was on Lexapro before for HA and I sent my Dr an email today asking about going back on it. Does all this sound like HA to anyone on here? All I been doing is worrying about this for over a week now. Friends tell me not to worry about it because I can't do anything about it and it's probably nothing but that is hard to do. I am constantly weighing myself several times a day. Any advice?

Thanks

Ok I'm home now :)

Well what I would suggest, is making a list.

Write down everything that worries you in relation to the changes you experience.
Sometimes when we try to describe something to the doctor without preparation, we forget important points that are worthy to be mentioned. Those points might help your doctor see your symptoms in a different light.
Keep in contact with your doctor and describe as accurate as possible what you are experiencing.

I hope it will turn out not to be as bad as you fear and I hope you will be ok.

Sadly I don't have expirences with your condition, but I hope I could help you a little.

You will lose weight if you give up carbs in your diet. Our bodies use carbs first for energy and it takes two days for our bodies to use up carbs that we have consumed after first turning the carbs into sugar. When our bodies have used up the carbs it then turns to the actual sugar to use as energy. Once it has used that it then turns to the fat in our bodies for energy.

We need carbs for our brain to work properly. I don't think you are doing yourself any favours by weighing yourself so frequently. Just do that once per week and wear the same clothes each time to get a proper reading.

Try to eat a proper balanced diet which includes everything to make sure that you are getting your vitamins and minerals and perhaps it may be a good idea to speak with a nutritionist to help you know what you should be eating for your height etc.
