When will covid end ???????

hey, im sure a lot of you can relate to this.

Covid is making everything harder. i cant rlly go out with friends the only thing i did was went to the cinemas which isnt so bad i guess. as covid is getting bad again, a lot of them dont want to go out due to covid. i have got things to keep me busy at home like drawing, playing guitar but i feel i need more social interaction.

Rather my opinion than fact, as know one knows. If a vaccine is available within the next 3-6 months (which i think judging by the uk-oxford covid-19 trials and results, there is a high chance) I imagine it will take from now around 24-36 months to go back to the 'normal' that we know.

This is because once the vaccine has passed all trials needed, they then need to make billions of doses, then it has to be given to everyone starting with the most vulnerable. Naturally as you can imagine this takes time.

I am hating every second of it but i am living one day at a time to keep sane. We can all hope it will be over next year, but i think giving false does no one any favours at all.

Depends what site / paper you read. Have heard it all at this stage. From 3 weeks to 5 months to 5 years. 5 years is based on the quickest vaccine they have made so far. That was for Ebola. You would imagine they have come a bit of way since then. But then you have to look at Covid and what it attacks in the human body. They would nearly want to make a vaccine to shield the whole body so Covid can't get in to begin with. So right now people are guessing at dates. Simple as that. Trials are happening in a few different countries. Who knows, it might be a mistake that ends up finding a vaccine. Has happened before. Bit of a slip with something. Only to find out it actually works. Trial and error first. Then if they do find something they have make sure it is safe. Long term wise. That might slow it down some as well.

It will end when we quit worrying about it and that takes time. It's here to stay, probably already been here for a long time.

SARS is still around and we have treatments for it, we have treatments for a lot of diseases and yet they are still here.

This will probably be like the flu and other seasonal diseases... here for life.

Now, we can still return to a “normal” life but that will take probably a couple of years to develop data, medicine, and controls to offset the disease

It probably will not "end" anytime soon, but we should be able to develop vaccines and better treatment soon, so it will be manageable. I can't wait til vaccines start coming out so the restrictions can ease up a little bit.

I live in Ontario. Yesterday the government rolled out what admittedly is a complex plan to both keep people healthy (#1) and the economy running. Areas that were in partial lockdown are reopening, but there is a database showing, by neighborhoods, what the positivity rates are and it’s being kept current. Based on that rate, the area is coded green, yellow, orange, red and grey. Green = more or less all is open but subject to size restrictions. You work your way down to grey..if any area gets put into grey, total lockdown, but again, only for that area. All schools remain open; elementary is all in class, and older is a mixture of in class and online.

I’m really proud of my Canadian officials..the premiere, health minister, education minister, etc. Thinking outside of the box. I only wonder why they didn’t think of this approach back in March. I guess not enough was known at that time.

Those sorts of lockdowns have been tried here in Ireland and in the UK too. Certain parts on lockdown only. Different levels of restrictions in other parts of the country. If you are on full lockdown you are not allowed leave your county. Did it work? No. Cases just kept getting higher again and before we knew it the whole of Ireland was back in full lockdown. Simply because of the obvious. The more people you have out there mixing together in large numbers, the more cases you will get. They open part of the country and that part starts getting new cases. I can see it been lockdown, numbers go down, open the country again, numbers go back up, lockdown, numbers go down again. This could simply continue like this until they find a vaccine. No pubs open in Ireland. That is a first. LOL. They have been closed since March. Did try to open some again and the numbers shot back up. Keep trying and failing at different things.

Pandemics last 18-24 months in general. Natural herd immunity ends them. It will end this one even if we didn't have a vaccine. By the end of 2021 it will be over one way or another. I'm hoping the vaccine will end it a bit early and can let me have a normal summer of concert going in 2021.
