When nothing seems to work...

...Should I just wait it out? If nothing could accelerate my recovery from a very specific obsession, should I just wait until it magically goes away? It's not like I'll obsess about it forever, after all.

You can hurry it up though. It is possible to train your thoughts. It takes 21 days to make a habit. Firstly you could do some affirmations. Even if you don't believe it, it will go into your subconscious and after just a few days you will feel a lot better.

The downside of doing affirmations though, I have found, is that if you stop doing them you revert back to the way you were before. It isn't easy keeping it up. That is why it's recommended to do a round of 30 affirmations every day at the same time counting on your fingers. What you affirm goes into your subconscious and you end up believing it for real. It would even make it happen. So choose your affirmation carefully and recover within 3 weeks from your specific obsession.
