I never realized until I did some research on my Phobia, which is fear of spiders, that so many other phobias exist, which are actually classified as being the top strangest phobias. (1) Heliophobia, the fear of the sun (2) Chaetophobia, the fear of hair (3) Oikophobia, a fear of home surroundings (4) Ergophobia, the fear of the workplace (5) Arachibutyrophobia, the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth.

Has anyone ever experienced these other phobias listed? I know my fear of spiders can be extreme at times. If you do experience these other phobias how do you deal with them?:joyful:

I never have heard of the phobias listed above. Even if someone is having, they would be oblivion as these are pretty uncommon types.
I've phasmophobia, the fear of ghosts. It sounds funny, but whenever light goes off or I'm alone I just feel the fear. People around me have tried a lot to make me understand that there's no existence of ghost. But, in an unlikely situation I just forget all the positive counselling. In the dark, an unknown fear cripples me.

I'm not aware of any phobias, but rather then focus on them I try to work around things. I don't like dirt (who does?) but when I was on a bootcamp they made us lie on a wet muddy field and exercise and I was freaking out. I did it, but I hated it and had to run off to shower straight away (against their orders of the next task) because I had to.

Often it's case of what makes us uncomfortable rather than to harm us, and while I know the dirt and worms in the grass couldn't harm me, it did make me freeze up. @moondebi I think ghosts because of the perception of them with films and such make it scary. I do believe they exist but I call them spirits rather than ghosts and they can't harm you. Why do you fear them? Is it because that's the natural reaction to things we cannot see or control?

Well, bees...but lots of people are afraid of them so it's not really a strange phobia. But I will make a total fool of myself running from them in front of others, I really forget that I'm not acting normally when I just start running around parking lots or anywhere, really, when a bee is hot on my trail. I have a lot of trouble with elevators. I'm not so much afraid of them, I just avoid them. Whenever I get off an elevator, the ground still feels like it's moving up/down for about 2-3 hours. So I always take the stairs, no matter how many flights I have to take to get to the floor I need to get to. And speaking of flights....SCARED TO DEATH of flying. I try to look at the statistics and how many planes are in the air right now that are NOT crashing...but I always feel as if I'm on that one dreaded flight that will crash. I'm also afraid of X-rays, any kind of X-rays. I don't like them because I'm sure they will find something and lead to more worry and possibly more tests - scary, exploratory tests...and doctors in general. I don't trust new meds, it's like pulling teeth to get me to try a new medication. I usually just don't do it. The only 3 I trust are Xanax, Meclizine, and Ibuprofen. Oh, I'm afraid of so many things, they're probably all phobias. My car is bright red, my hair and make-up are always perfectly done, I seem very outgoing and friendly and can talk to anyone about almost anything....but I basically live in a shell. A big, scared shell. And not too many people know it. I don't even look the part.

I would say my worse phobia is fear of driving to unknown places where I have never been before. I don't know if it is a fear of getting lost or having the car break down, or being to far from home but it really puts a damper on traveling or just getting to important appointments. If someone else is driving I am perfectly content.

There are many phobias that torment me. Driving is one of them. Being at bus stations and crowded places is another. Spiders scare the life out of me as does any creepy crawly. Being in a crowded room haunts me. Being reincarnated into another life the same as this one scares me and consumes my thoughts, yet drives me to get healing. Injections too. I am really scared of being given an injection with an air bubble in it and have been scared of that all my life.

My phobia is dental phobia. It's the fear of dentists and dental work and anything related. I didn't realize how common it was until I researched it. Most people have some amount of dental related anxiety but the actual phobia is much less common. People like myself with the phobia get so stressed out that it's easy to have a panic attack in the dentist office or even sometimes just thinking about, hearing about it or seeing pictures.
