Hey ya’ll haven’t posted in a little while but I’m having some strange symptoms that I think are probably just stress related but don’t know because I haven’t had them really before. The last few days I’ve been randomly throughout the day feeling sort of light headed and also seem to be having random little heart palpitations where my chest feels funny. I’m sure worrying about it will just make it worse. Naturally with the holidays going on I’ve been a pretty stressed so I’m guessing that’s the cause. It’s also possible that from worrying about it I’ve just made myself overly aware of these sensations. Anyone ever had similar symptoms?

Also, my family does have a history of heart disease but I’m only 22 and in pretty good health so I don’t think anything is actually physically wrong. I also had my cholesterol checked last summer and it wasn’t amazing but it also wasn’t high enough to be at risk.

Good job thinking rationally that nothing should be wrong, and figuring out what might be causing your symptoms.
For your question, I definitely have had those symptoms. Maybe not under your exact situation, but when I'm stressed I do notice being lightheaded-- And the feeling just won't go away, and feels so incredibly real.
For palpitations, I believe it is heavily related to anxiety in your case (our cases actually). I haven't met anyone who has anxiety and hasn't had palpitations at some point.
Just try to focus on something else. These symptoms are very common, and from someone who has this before and wasted so much time panicking over it... I think you are okay, and shouldn't dwell on it. :)

Here’s why I really appreciate this online community. i was literally logging in to write almost this exact message about a fluttering / weird feeling in my chest and some lightheaded was (along with some upper back / neck stiffness and pain) and saw this post. Seems like we’re going through similar stuff... and knowing that it’s happening to someone else immediately calms me down. I had started going down my class anxiety / hypochondriac online hole or despair (I was thinking of looking up arythmia (sp)) - but I came here first. After smiling to myself and taking a deep breath - I already feel less symptomatic.

So yeah - this community is awesome. Steven, I hope your finding it similarly helpful. Hang in there. You’ll get through this... and we’re here to help.

You seem to have already explained it yourself. Which is really good. Trying to look at symptoms rational is very important to move on and not let the anxiety take over. Have a look how it is in the mean time, if the symptoms increase or if you are totally forgetting that there is something. Should some remain, let it be checked out by your doctor just to be on the save side. But as you said, you are 22 and rather healthy the possibility that there is really something going on should be minimal.

this also helped me. I get light-headed and a spacy feeling in my head when I have anxiety. Also the palipatations too.A fluttering feeling in my chest. Now reading on here I feel relieved it is anxiety. I used to worry what caused it but lately I just go with it till it passes. And knowing you are not alone helps too.

My symptoms have constantly changed with time. It's like every time I'm able to convince my mind that a symptom is from anxiety, it disappears and another pops up. These days it's my jaw muscles clenching to the point it feels I can't open my mouth and somehow I'm still able to eat and talk.
Good point by the above poster about anemia. I haven't had a panic attack in months (still have anxiety attacks though) and that day I skipped breakfast and was at a meeting. It was about 3:30 pm when I had it. The biggest one I'd ever had. After calming down, it made sense that I'd been without food for about eight hours and going on the train to a new area scared me. Check your eating habits and make sure to keep gum or something with sugar at hand. It could be low sugar as well.

Yep, it's happening to me right now. Heart flutters, racing heart. As soon as I say to myself it's only anxiety it eases. I try to distract myself when it happens like right now, writing this. It helps to know you are not alone.

Hey there sorry haven’t been on in a couple weeks. My symptoms from earlier this month definitely just ended up being anxiety related. Thankfully I went on a vacation right around when they were happening and sure enough as soon as I relaxed they just disappeared within a day or two.

Anxiety is crazy man it can cause so many weird symptoms and in the moment when it’s happening it all feels so real. Once it ends I always look back and wonder why I worried so much.

Hey there sorry for the late reply it’s been a really busy last few weeks and haven’t been in here much. I’m really glad to hear that you found my story and got some relief knowing other people are going through similar anxiety symptoms. Best wishes.

Anxiety causes all these weird symptoms and when the anxiety goes away, the symptoms always do too. Our stress and worrying is at the root of it all.
