Weird body sensations

Hello, everyone!
First time poster here. I’m 19 and have been suffering from anxiety for a long time now, but it has gotten exponentially worse in the past year. I can’t count how many diseases I thought I had, it’s just a constant torment! Lately I’ve been dealing with some weird symptoms. I have body aches all over. It kind of feels like the type of pain you have when you have a cold, just these aches in very localized (and random) parts of the body like the middle of the forearm, bottom of the foot, hands,.. In addition to that I’ve also been feeling like my body is heavy and tired, it’s similar with the feeling you get when you’re coming down with a cold. I’m completely paranoid thinking this could be some sort of blood cancer or a neurological disease! Has anyone had a similar experience? I just don’t keno what to do and am afraid that the doctors will just blow it off and not test me properly...

Hi and welcome ValentinaCarter. I personally don't see any of the symptoms described as being anything worse than that you've got health anxiety. We have many folks here with heath anxiety. It's a cunning disease. My hope for you is to be able to trust your doctor's expertise (they deal with health anxiety alot) or those fears will not be able to be squelched until the next set of symptoms descend upon you. Again, welcome. You're at a forum that has so much experience and wisdom for those with health anxiety.

Well it is cold/flu season so maybe you are simply coming down with a cold. I understand having anxiety on top of having health issues is very rough. It's also possible it's just anxiety, my anxiety can make me feel sluggish/heavy like that too.

If it is a cold, it just has to run its course then you will feel better. But being stressed out will make the cold much worse, and make it linger around longer than it should.

Try to avoid the temptation of looking up a bunch of health stuff online. I need to follow my own advice of course, but it's not good for us. Just makes us worry too much for no good reason. Get checked out with a doctor and get blood work done if it will ease your mind but Im sure you're all right. This winter has been bad with colds and flu, so you are not alone if it is that.

Hey there, and welcome! Sorry you're having a hard time with this. I sometimes have "phantom pains" like that - just weird little muscle spasms or aches, sometimes sharper pains like someone just poked me with something. Anxiety directly affects your nervous system, so it can make your body do crazy things like that! It's common to have little aches, or to feel just generally tired all over, when anxiety is high. It doesn't sound like any kind of serious condition, but if it would make you feel better, talk to your doctor and have him/her run a blood panel to be sure. But some old fashioned relaxation and getting some anxiety relief would probably take you a long way.

I’d agree with everything just&hopeful said and I’ll add that anxiety can make as so overly aware and locked in on normal body sensations and functions. I almost guarentee If you can find some way to relieve the anxiety, these symptoms will quickly clear up. Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear you are going through this...and having anxiety my whole life mine has become worse over the last couple of weeks and I have the same feelings my body feels very heavy and achy as well...good luck and take care
